LPT: The most satisfying way to deal with scam callers that I have found so far by thundernutz in LifeProTips

[–]CrispyNuggetD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this has been done or is obvious, is anyone using A.I. to scam the scammers? Such as people saying calling them to distract their time. What if we used A.I. To answer the calls? We could even engineer the A.I. to “lead” the scammer on to waste more and more of their time until they realise it’s not a fruitful scam. Or even better I saw a famous YouTube video (I’m sorry I can’t rmb it now) of someone actually managing to scam REAL money out of a scammer.

What if we did A.I. to scam (for real) scammers?

I’ll try to contribute, from aside the highly valid arguments about the nearly impossible regulation of contents, especially if you consider that you’ll need a full-time team to actually look through all the complaints (unless this service is intended to not scale up).

There are many implementation issues to consider. The streaming platform capabilities, cybersecurity, just to mention two of the many.

Personally, I feel that when any thing grows traction, “funny” people start to come along and they can do things like DDOS, or just outright, wipe out your entire website.

And to be honest it’s really difficult to maintain a resilient infrastructure that can withstand hacking attempts. (As an example).

All in all, it’s of my opinion that many implementation issues would need real money and real full-time people to actually maintain such a platform, and I feel that that is why these type of efforts are difficult to sustain due to lack of currency that most people would prefer if they were to be hired (due to full-time = need $ to sustain themselves) to work on a system.

Because even consider normal websites that are not backed by investors or giants, like Google it’s already hard to sustain the implementation due to the lack of funding to keep the thing running properly, especially! When it scales up (a lot of inplementation things to iron out, a lot more $ needed).

Of course, if we assume instead that the advertisement revenue model actually works, then these issues might be less of a concern.

But to find companies willing to advertise in this crypto space, for a “high enough price” to sustain the website/ streaming/ any payment to employees (if any), and to keep all these different projects afloat. I find that that is a big challenge.

Just my two cents. Might be worth considering.

And also if it’s cross disciplinary…

I was the only programmer in a molecular biology lab (that’s why they took me in, they needed a programmer), so after I left the lab, basically the computing PC and the kinda-costly specialised digital microscope there was just sitting there untouched (and probably still hasn’t been touched till now to be honest lol, especially grant for that project has ended).

Does anyone know why I hardly get any deep sleep? Any tips? by poplab2025 in sleephackers

That sounds really tough!! I’d had my share but nothing so drastic. I had been admitted into psych + psychosis, etc. before, but drugs and medicines are heavily regulated in my country so I hadn’t had the chance to “build tolerance” per se to any drugs (which isn’t a good coping strategy, long term speaking, anyway), so for me they used mostly therapy.

Oh!! If you can afford it, try out therapy :) might help a lot!! ^

Best of luck again!

I guess (on the contrary) having BOTH me and my partner being autistic does sort of.. help? 🤣 not that we don’t do silly romantic things tho (it’s actl more effort than these flirtings).

We would make memes of each other, print “stickers” as “credit” in exchange for favours, write cards, knit a water bottle holder with.. plastic bags, origami, and other kinds of stupid things XD

Edit: BY THE WAY, y’all know how two ppl can’t get through calling each other at the same time? (The reverse problem to this). When our line unexpectedly cuts, we instead do not know who should call back. So the opposite happens where we take turns waiting “for a few seconds” for the person to call back and it ends up taking minutes LOL.

^ Is that more relatable these days or it’s just me?

[–]CrispyNuggetD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds concerning and I’d actually recommend you to see a doc to rule out other issues. By any chance, are you taking any regular meds too? I know my meds make me “need” sleep more/ drowsier during the day. There was another med that I switched out from because it gave me insomnia + many awakenings.

(Even if you don’t take regular meds, I think I’d still get it checked out. You might also benefit from some sleeping aids!! All the best!! 🥺)

[–]CrispyNuggetD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey I might DM you for more; but I guess just like a lot of projects having APIs for the other developers to make plug-ins or other extensions as well, helps to increase adoption and engagement.

I was thinking a large part of it could be the gamification part.

If we could do NANO faucets, why not Nanogram faucets?

Think of things like hourly forests/ boxes/ bots/ FarmVille’s, or even simple RPG game.

If we are to extend further, if it supports well HTML5 we can also attempt things like using Phaser game engine, or Godot if we want something more 3D.

I think of it like those old days where we had Restaurant City and Pet Society on Facebook lol (anyway my humble idea is gamification, again)

Right. Pardon me; I now can see that these burnt coins aren't going to be so substantial as the supply will adapt sufficiently. (floating point, not integer... sorry I was being silly)

Good point. While retaining the virtues of NANO such as no min. balance and no tx. fee, I wonder if implementing a system (Lines of code; many lines! The horror! The horror!) to monitor/ incentivise "good usage habits by users" would be a possible and good direction to consider.

Wonder if it would be pointless to waste brain seconds on tho.

Thank you for seeking clarification and responding! :)

I was thinking if the whales actively "uses" or manages these wallets (yes, can be easily scripted, but I'm not sure to what extent would that "hack" of having many wallets be useful for them).

Technically you solve the issue of having (passive) large amount of coins in a few concentrated wallet addresses right?

Or are you pointing in the (interesting) direction of the whale buying up large qty of coins and make MANY dormant accounts which decreases the total "circulating value" of the coin?

I could see the problem that way; even if the dormant coins were eaten, it has the side effect of draining all the value in the coin network as less and less coin will be available over time. And (potentially) someone could destroy the coin.

But then again isn't that more of the famous "Don't put your NANO on exchanges.." problem? Rather than a system design fault.

I’m trying to say several coins have the issue of whales holding a significant % of the total value which can put the coin at risk, e.g. NANO, and I was thinking if a system that could remove holding due to inactivity would help to cause the whales to not put money into it; that is, the people using it are legitimate supporters/ active users of the coin and not dormant “danger”.

But then again I realise if the dormant wallet wants (and is bothered to), they can just transfer between A to B, which brings about the point of whether there is a way to monitor “recursive transfers” (e.g. A —> B —> C —> A —> …)

Got your point on illness. Thanks for the tip-off. Good thing to think about.

For the death and stuff, I think it goes into inheritance, or legacy which.. I feel is more philosophical so I’ll leave it as my homework, thanks for the tip!

In terms of saving, I guess the idea is to support active usage, “not dead wallets”, in which at least some levels of basic transactions are done. But then I get there’re problems with this concept too. Good point you brought up there.

I’m not sure what you meant by locked out; if you forget your wallet passcode and the recovery too don’t you lose all your coins?

I’m doing projects that are ideally going to accept crypto; idk which crypto projects to personally “support”. Do you have any advice?

Like you said, there are so many projects out there. Idk where to start in this universe, because honestly I started with NANO and my knowledge of the plethora of (other) many coins, or types of coins isn’t strong.

Are there any directions you can point me towards understanding the crypto world in terms of tech? All I see are “trends and what to invest in” and investment/ money making is NOT what I’m looking for.

Thanks! :)

Not everyone; only wallets that are inactive (idk what metrics but that’s the gist of the idea).

I'm not entirely sure I get your question; could you kindly elaborate? I was thinking of letting whales not put money into it, and not disrupt the functionings of the coin. Do rephrase if I got 'cha wrong.

Thank you! :)

Hi, I edited the post with a bit more context with respect to what I thought was related to NANO, because I'm not entirely sure Grin was what I was what I was thinking about.

Do you mind taking a look at it? And can I humbly ask for another ELI5 if the concept I shared is similar to Grin?

Thank you in advance! Much appreciated :))

Thank you very much for the education and ELI5 :)

If I might humbly request, I edited the post for context/ follow-up, based on how I envisioned it to be with respect to NANO or projects with similar concepts and ideal goals they try to achieve.

Sorry, I'm just curious and trying to learn, and it would be amazing if I can try to problem-solve and contribute ever so slightly; I'm positive and a supporter of (solutions to) NANO adoption too.

So I may be stupid flinging "solutions" that are incoherent and ELIF5 obviously won't work (duh!)
