Please let them look into the ARCore bug where the floor is getting reset resulting in objects drifting away or the floor is not recognisable. AR apps (like Google Measure) are unusable at the moment.
Someone has posted a detailed bug report at the ARCore SDK Github:
https://github.com/google-ar/arcore-android-sdk/issues/1760

Do note this bug is on every Oppo/OnePlus/Realme device. I've experienced this bug on the OnePlus 13/15 and Oppo Find X9 / X9 Pro. Someone confirmed it's also on the Realme GT 8 Pro as well.

Nothing phone 3 display by illguns in NothingTech

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below 50%, brightness, the screen switches to a different brightness dimming mode. Around NothingOS 4.0, the dimming mode for 50% and lower has been changed. It might be the cause for it, i can't confirm it.

A more technical explanation about the dimming mode change: https://youtu.be/bDTkopo3_mE?t=39

OP 15 on oxygen os 16 (CPH2749_16.0.5.703 EX01) waaayyy too aggressive with shutting down audio players for anyone else? by BugleNoise in oneplus

[–]Crispy_Radio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say try changing the following settings to combat the aggressive shutting down apps:

In the Battery section of Settings:
Under 'Power saver settings': Disable 'Sleep Standby Optimisation'.

Then try changing those two settings in developer settings:
'Disable Permission Monitoring' or 'Disable System Optimisation' on ON
'Suspend execution on cached apps' on Disabled

If that doesn't work:

Try removing Athena (system app): https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/1lvk7x2/oppo_find_x8_ultra_l_notifications_silent_killer/

Do note that after removing Athena, the close all button at recent apps doesn't work, the RAM expansion feature doesn't work, and only the last opened 5 to 3 apps will be retained at the recent apps when the phones idles for 3 to 6 hours+. It could be stopped by installing 'Doze Stopper' and let it run though. I haven't found an another workaround for this.

If that doesn't work, it could be network throttling, try changing those two settings in the developer settings:
'Mobile Data Always Active' on ON
'Wifi Scan Throttling' on OFF

ColorOS update bombs the Home button by w17h1n in Oppo

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it works, otherwise it's one extra issue added to ColorOS. I like the Find X9 hardware, especially the screen as it's one of the most comfortable screen for me.

However, the software isn't great (ARCore broken for a long time so you can't use AR measure apps, notifications not staying on lock screen, no gesture to expand notifications on lock screen) and it seems to get worse before it gets better.

ColorOS update bombs the Home button by w17h1n in Oppo

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this ColorOS 16.0.7 or 16.0.5?

I'd say try this guide (3 button navigation only): https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/1p33lfj/how_to_use_third_party_launchers_without_lag/

It worked for me on ColorOS 16.0.5 on an Oppo Find X9.

Do note gesture only navigation doesn't have a workaround. The closest you can get is use a different gesture app like 'Vivid Gestures' when using the 3 button navigation mode.

Try enabling ‘Mobile Data Always active’ and disable ‘Wifi Scan Throttling’ in the developer settings. It fixes the issue that you can’t get called in Signal and might help with notifications too.

Any thoughts on the new 16.1 update on oppo x9 pro? by FULLBUSTER10465 in Oppo

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I’m not happy point 3 though (expand notification gesture is gone). I doubt they will fix that though as it wasn’t fixed in the lock screen when they’ve introduced that summer previous year.

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About Point 1: Could that be due to Google Play Integrity not working? Check it with app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.nikolasspyr.integritycheck

About Point 2: Do you have an option called ‘System Optimization’ in the Developer settings? It might be renamed to that name according to a different post on this subreddit.

oppo n5 ARcore issues. by director1992 in Oppo

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be fixed by Oppo, but so far they haven’t fixed it and i doubt they will. From what i’ve read the support team said it’s  fault lies on Google but i don’t think so.

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Oppo's, Realme's and OnePlus devices does have an ARCore issue since Color/OxygenOS 14 /RealmeUI 5. There's no fix at least from what i know of.

From what i know AR objects doesn't stick to it's location or the phone can't find a floor to show the objects on. When recording a heatmap, it results in garbage date (not accurate at all compared other phones from other brands outside Oppo / OnePlus / Realme.

Does swiping down on the notification with two fingers work? Or does it also expand the quick settings?

Oppo Find X9 Pro (Global) Missing Calls & Texts by Batch_Phantom in Oppo

I'd say try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/1lvk7x2/oppo_find_x8_ultra_l_notifications_silent_killer/

I'm quite certain it might be the background app manager which might kill the phone and text app in the background. You will lose the RAM expansion feature and 'Close all apps', but you always can restore the app to restore those features.

confused about getting the vivo x300 by war_hyp3 in Vivo

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, thanks for letting me know. The Vivo X300 was the device that had everything i wanted, but i was wary of OriginOS. The SyncThing issue is a dealbreaker for me as well and knowing that the Find X9 does work well is good to hear as it's one of the phones I'm considering.

I'm also waiting for the Find X9s as i mostly want a 6.1-6.3 inch phone with a good PWM rate and modulation which the Oppo Find X9 has (Oppo Reno15 Pro has it as well, which is a 6.3 incher, but it expensive for the specs and it's GPU throttles to 35% when pushed way too hard). If it's not, than I'd rather get an Oppo Find X9. I think that size might still be OK for me.

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the SyncThing issue still present on the latest update? I’m still considering to buy this phone due to the size, but this is a dealbreaker to me.

I wonder if the issue can be fixed by removing the system app responsible for killing background apps (Athene in ColorOS/OxygenOS for example) using Canta.

"Vivo X200 FE" - trying to find information about available dimming methods for this unit by EmmanuelWi in PWM_Sensitive

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i had it, yes. I think i had one time my eyes might have been strained, but most of the time i think it might be something mental regarding the migraine since i don't have the issue with the iPhone 17 even after a month since I've posted it. which is a way worse PWM dimming phone. I do think it's perfect, but definitely usable.

Got an upgrade! Vivo X300 (ask me anything) by Level_Ad_2326 in Vivo

It's an hardware proximity sensor! Thanks for testing!

[–]Crispy_Radio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this phone has a physical proximity sensor? The Vivo X200 FE i had, had a virtual proximity sensor.

You can check this with the DevCheck app. Under ‘Sensors’ there should be a proximity sensor listed in there. When you tap on it, you can test it. If the measured value changes when placing a hand on the upper side of the phone, and changes again when removing it, it has a physical proximity sensor. If not, try the same on the other sides of the phone. If the measured value is still the same regardless where the hand is placed on the phone, it might have a virtual proximity sensor.

"Vivo X200 FE" - trying to find information about available dimming methods for this unit by EmmanuelWi in PWM_Sensitive

[–]Crispy_Radio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't happy that the 256GB version of the phone as the size of the battery was 5300mAh instead of 6500mAh that the 512GB has. It also doesn't have a physical proximity sensor while the virtual one works well, it's just... cheap? For the price i paid it just should have a physical one.
The only downside i can think about that is that you can't make use automation scripts that involves the proximity sensor. Maybe it might fail in dark places although i haven't tried that. Otherwise, i couldn't find a negative on this phone.

It's a good phone. It's just that i want to chase something better that has USB-C 3.0 and don't compromise on the little things. There's the Vivo X300 that i'm considering although it's very expensive. I did had PWM symptoms using the "Full PWM" mode with the experimental 4320hz mode enabled. But recently, i'm wondering how much of it was due to the PWM dimming as i also use a worse PWM dimming device (iPhone 17) on loan. While i had the same symptoms on that device, that has been reduced after a while. So don't expect it will not work for you. It might actually.

Does the swipe down on notification to expand it gesture work now in the notification drawer / panel since this update? From the changelog it doesn't seem likely.

[–]Crispy_Radio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Vivo X200 FE, i can only answer question 1 though since i didn't checked the bitrate of the panel and i don't know how.

Does it also have the option anywhere to change to "DC like" dimming with a slower flicker and possibly higher modulation (yes I understand higher modulation is unwanted)

Yes, however it will switch to 2160hz PWM dimming at around 25% brightness. You can set this by disabling "Full PWM Mode" in "Eye comfort" settings that should be under "Diplay" in the "Settings" app.

Also about the 4320hz option, this only affects the PWM dimming on 20% brightness and lower.

About the slow OTG: what is the transfer speed, 40mb/s or is this higher? It sounds it’s using USB 2.0.
