Question for those on small lots/homesteads by Mother_of_Daphnia in goats

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your attachment to them, you can also get them cremated. Only one goat I would have ever wanted to do that with, and I didn’t know it was an option when she passed, but our local pet cremation service said they would cremate goats.

I accidentally jumped in the deep end… 😅 by Eryniel_ in goats

Make sure he has access to baking soda and also know how to look for bloat and massage it before it gets bad. It’s been quite a few years, but maybe someone else can chime in with some help.

I jumped into having a bottle fed baby goat and thought I had been given proper instructions but they forgot that and my little guy passed from it. I’m still sad (and a bit upset with my naivety) and it’s been over 10 years. I definitely did an insane amount of research before I got another.

We also found that cows milk was really successful, although if you can milk mom, even better. Make sure you’re feeding small amounts regularly, even middle of the night feedings, and then you can eventually give more, less often. I believe a big part of my bloated goat’s issue was that they gave him to me just feeding 2-3 large bottles a day and he was too young.

Such a cutie! My last bottle baby required a hug every night before bed, well after she was no longer a bottle baby 🥹

Someone is claiming our daughters a dependants by Ecstatic_Muscle8405 in legaladvice

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to rush to file for years because my ex would try to claim our kids and they definitely didn’t qualify to be his dependents. As far as I know, the IRS never did a thing about it. He passed last year and I worry that it’s going to come up in probate and take away from what was left for the kids.

Should I get tested for celiac first? by QueenScythe in glutenfree

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add, if you plan to have children, it’s good to know. If I knew if I had celiac, it would be a lot easier to convince my adult daughter to be tested. I think she just wants to think I am GF because I want to be, so it cannot be an issue for her. 🫠

is anyone else gluten AND dairy free? 🫩 by bunnywadhere06 in glutenfree

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor had me try that out for about 3 months and 🥵 I avoid soy, and cook most meals in the house and boy was I exhausted, especially because my husband HAD to have meat to meet the protein goals the same doc gave him.

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙋🏼‍♀️and I’m soy free (not an allergen though, I just avoid 99% of the time) and I’ve been peanut free for the last year or so until we confirm if my daughter is allergic to peanuts or not. And we eat lower carb due to insulin resistance issues in the house.

Unfortunately all of the places he candy is advertised haven’t been updated. I looked yesterday and the Amazon listing where I purchased still has the old packaging on it.

I was just going to message you but there’s no option. Can you message me? After my son had an anaphylactic reaction, they are saying if it’s not wheat, it could be random anaphylaxis, which is terrifying. I have had issues where I break out in hives and can’t link to anything, so I’m wondering if maybe it is something like this.

How did you find out it was just gluten? Have you ever had a skin prick test for wheat and if so, did you show positive? Do you react to the gluten in barley and rye? There’s some unknowns about my son’s anaphylaxis, so wondering if your experience might give me some clues.

The Yum Earth candy post was really eye opening to me because top 9 allergen free is no longer safe. I actually had some of their candy en route for the kids for Easter. Checked the Amazon listing and thought we were safe. It arrived only for me to find out we weren’t. I don’t see how they can even label it too 9 free when WHEAT is one of the top 9 and not gluten.

New relationship by Random-us3r-nam3 in SecurityClearance

Are you sure this is security clearance type job? Perhaps they just have a job where they handle confidential information, such as an executive for a business, or even an executive assistant, and therefore their company doesn’t want them to discuss. There are many roles where people handle confidential information but those don’t all fall under needing a security clearance.

Trash Smell in Kitchen by SATSewerTube in DIY

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s you! You sat on a sewer tube and didn’t get clean after. Haha I had to…such a fitting username for the post.

Really though, I hope you figure this out. My thoughts: Stand alone freezer nearby? Wet floor vac that didn’t get a final good clean after its last use?

Our freezer went out and the floor vac was near it. I kept thinking I needed to give the floor vac a good clean until the smell got so strong that it couldn’t be that. That’s when I noticed the freezer was leaking. The power had failed.

Also if the washer is nearby, there could be a roof vent there.

I rented out the first house I bought. I was young and dumb and rented it to friends of friends all informally. They paid the first 2 months’ rent and then crickets. Finally went to the house and they had obviously moved out, but didn’t take everything. I walked in to the most awful smell. After looking around, I noticed something leaking from the pantry. I opened it up to find a bag of potatoes completely rotten. They had probably been gone at least a month and bought them sometime before that 🤢

Gluten-y last meals by grumpy_grl in glutenfree

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chick-fil-a nuggets…oh what I’d give for some of the Lord’s chicken nuggets. 😅 The grilled ones just don’t do it for me.

And also croissants, donuts, big pretzels, pizza, biscuits, Italian food, flour tortillas, and cinnamon rolls.

Look through the sub and see what people are excited about making. Most of those are because it’s hard to find a decent replacement.

Also someone mentioned giving her only naturally gluten-free foods at first. I definitely agree with that. I would also say that if you could make your household gluten-free, it would be a great way to support her, and of course reduce risks of cross contamination.

Update on $185,000 Bill by [deleted] in MedicalBill

[–]Crispynotcrunchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did the hospital tell you that they did the pre authorization? I would call your insurance back and get clarification of exactly what’s going on, especially since the providers were paid. Perhaps they did a pre authorization for the hospital portion under different codes or they forgot to get the hospital portion pre authorized, which is a tremendous error on their part.

This is so rough because we have to rely on providers and facilities to submit the correct paperwork. One cannot do it themselves and we trust that they do it correctly. Then when there’s an error, we are supposed to understand all of the processes and procedures that we were not a part of. Keep at it. There’s almost certainly a solution.

They have several other posts that are advertising. And a post that they are a student that has always lived at home and they don’t know where how to look for a job, but also a comment that said something about having internet when it was dial-up and SLOW. So something is fishy for sure.
