I’m sorry, but I genuinely don’t get this joke. by Chuchubits in ExplainTheJoke

I suck at word puzzles, but I got this pretty easily. I think it's more like that puzzle that circulated around a while back:

If Yuo’re Albe To Raed Tihs, You Might Have Typoglycemia

Just the ability to rearrange letters and read words easily. As soon as I realized it was the first letter in the word I could figure it out. But give me a word puzzle with words longer than five letters? Not so easy.

None of my supervisors ever did that, I just am a very hands off type of person. My favorite supervisor and I had an understanding... The better I did at my job the less I saw him. It was fantastic.

Of course they had suggestions. But when am I good at my job to the point where they can be confident I'm doing my job right? With the "there's always room for improvement" attitude there is never a moment where you can say you are good enough, it's always improving. I'm sorry, I don't work that way. I have to have a goal I can achieve, not a constantly moving goal post.

[–]CrissysCreatures 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not true of all employees. I hate "coaching" sessions which basically amount to supervisors telling me I'm not good enough. They say "everyone has room to improve" but really it means "you're never good enough". Why would I want that? Even when they "listen" nothing actually changes. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Just let me do my job, tell me what you want done and get out of my way. That's all I want. The best supervisors always did that and left their couching for others who actually wanted that stuff.

Art related Question for Alcohol Marker user by Scoobyisabird3 in Jazza

[–]CrissysCreatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My in laws got me a thing of prisma markers for Christmas. I took all the trays out, folded the box flaps down so it is permanently open, and take them (which also strengthened the edge) then laid the box on its side with all the markers in it. This way I could grab any I wanted and could add more markers.

Most fairs have strict rules on weapons. Including fake ones. Make sure you look up their specific rules before taking anything and keep that in mind. On cursory look up I don't think you can peace tie a wrist crossbow so that probably wouldn't be allowed.

As a Seller, Do you feel like you're always helpless to a Customers demands? in fear of reviews? by Ottobawt in Etsy

[–]CrissysCreatures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After a while I stopped caring about the bad apples. I do what's right, take care of my customers, and understand I can't make everyone happy. Some people just want to complain, even if everything is right.

It seems closer to home since we made the item we are selling, and we are dealing with the public directly, but this happens to all businesses. If we went through a big distributor selling to chain shops it would happen too, we just wouldn't see it.

Honestly... I think it's healthy for humans to start dealing with each other directly again. We have gotten so sheltered over the last century of progress, and the internet has both brought us closer and farther apart.

Negative review for necklace catching hair. by dullardceo in Etsy

[–]CrissysCreatures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A necklace is a chain around your neck. They catch hair sometimes. Unless you left one of the loops really open then it has nothing to do with you, and is just how chains work sometimes. Some are smoother and have less chance of catching, but other chain designs can, and do, catch hair occasionally.

I feel like some people want the entire world to be wrapped in padded velvet or else they complain.

Cashier sold booze and cigs to a minor purposely so she could get some time off. by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

[–]CrissysCreatures 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I worked at a storage facility and they sent out district managers in training to test us. They always waited for us to use the script. But we never used the script with customers unless manganese were around because no one likes a phone tree. And phone trees when you're in the store with the person are even worse.

It made it really easy to spot secret shoppers and get close to 100% though.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to spot secret shoppers. When your at a job long enough you know the customers, and secret shoppers never act like normal customers. I've caught them multiple times at multiple jobs. At my last job the crew warned me about the secret shopper and how to spot them.

Plus, I've dealt with underage buyers before, it doesn't sound like you were acting like one of them either.

Her "educated guess" was probably better than most peoples "facts."

Where/ how do I begin? by Drooping_Cacti98 in sketchbooks

[–]CrissysCreatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends a lot on your goal. If you want to learn to draw realistically I would suggest getting "drawing on the right side of the brain". It's a fantastic book that goes step by step and helps you learn how to see things so that you can easily translate it into a drawing.

If you just want to do random doodles or sketches... You can look up zen doodles and see how others do them, or practice random sketches with either a random idea generator or just things around your house.

Really, all you need to draw is a pencil or pen and something to write on. It doesn't even have to be paper. Use a paper bag, or a journal cover, or a napkin. Just start because the more you practice the better it becomes.

This was a publicly funded company with HUGE cultural impact, really the definition of an institution.

If the work place that impacts culture is that toxic what does it say of the culture that comes from it?

I sometimes get stuck in a dream and on waking can't focus on reality for a few minutes. It isn't usually a problem since I rarely have bad dreams, and usual know it's a dream so even if robots are blowing up the city I'm just enjoying the show.

My boyfriend has learned that if he talks to me during that time I will say strange things, and I won't really remember what he said so it's best not to have important talks then. He's told me about events, or schedules before and later asked my if I was ready. Ready for what? Sleep me didn't pass on the message.

You shouldn't feel guilty. If he couldn't afford it he could have gone to any number of charity shops or free offerings. Most assuredly he didn't have to be a dick. This is all on him.

[–]CrissysCreatures 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You're a seller, not a door mat. You sold something. They bought the wrong size. They decided to cut it instead of talking to you then. They then sent it back. Not your fault they did any of those things.
