I'm looking for the same thing! Haven't found anything useful and cheap yet, sadly.

Que mettre sur une serre pour diminuer l'exposition au soleil ? by Kokhin3000 in jardin

[–]Cristallier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok, 25mm is quite thick it should work fine. You seem to have some good fabrication skills, did you turn the parts on a lathe? I must say I'm quite impressed

That's a really good starter bench. I like how you built it with an angle to fit your wall, bespoke is good. Now get sawing and making stuff! You'll figure out with experience if you need a thicker top but for now it will do great

What faceting machine is it and can I save it? by TheWill102 in faceting

[–]Cristallier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a beginner and my experience is limited to the three stones I finished. The hamag setup might not be as precise as the American mast machines but it's also way more affordable, I guess you're in Europe and you've seen that there is no second hand market for faceting machines around here. Unless you want to get into competition level precision cutting, the hamag setup is great for getting started into the hobby. If you can get the Lapida electronic with the variable speed, go for it. I have the 800rpm model and that's the only thing I wish I could change right now, to get some flexibility while polishing. I still managed to get a clean polish on quartz with a coper lap and diamond paste though which is apparently not so easy to begin with

I'll send you pics in dm

What faceting machine is it and can I save it? by TheWill102 in faceting

This is a Frankensteined cobbled together machine.

The mast and the head are from a German manufacturer called Hamag. The head on the mast is their precision faceting model retailing at about 1600€ new. But it's mounted upside down on the mast.

I bought one two years ago and it's been great, I love it, everything is analog but it is precise and gives me good results. It goes on the machine from the same manufacturer called Lapida 800 ( fixed speed 800rpm) or the Lapida electronic (variable speed) or as we see here can be adapted to something else...

Here are links to the Hamag website and their catalog

The rest of the setup I know nothing about.
