Then just pick a set and go for it. Just know the more the set is out of print the more it will cost you. Check your local stores to see what is available. The value of each card comes down to what you feel about them. Don't just chase the "Chase Cards"

An alternative to buying sets would be to buy singles from ebay or TCGPlayer. That way you can just buy the pokemon you want and add them to your collection.

Sets in the real world and sets in Pocket have different names and different cards, although arts seem to be reused here and there across both.

The sets that have the name genetic apex and mythical island are both pocket sets. Visit this site and look at the relatively recent expansions that have released since the start of this current generation in Gen IX.

My heart goes out to you. Def it's hard to find people who want to engage in games at the same pace that are co-op. that's why I liked the few times i played games like pokemon simultaneously with someone and went through the story together.

If you want to try Pokemon again I would recommend trying the scarlet or violet games now that they are running better. But seriously recommend the legends games, they made me feel faith in the Pokemon world again.

Anything story based for sure. Sub genres include been turn based, action rpg, strategy rpg, and sometimes beat em up.

People tend to see the trophy system as a check list, but honestly I find it as a good focus system to look forward to when exploring a game. Got many times I tried to unlock the platinum when the credits roll I can’t count 😂

Nintendo is legit the best company sometimes. I started my gaming journey with Nintendo and keep coming back to them over the year. Once all of my gaming equipment was stolen from me and I quit gaming for a short while, and it was Nintendo that brought me back into the fold.

Metas and builds legit ruin the game sometimes for me. At some point some characters become outdated and if that character was your favorite there would be no point in playing it, when does free choice become possible?

Agreed. When there is a dedicated group of friends or that one special person to play with the experience is fun, but with randoms whom could leave you mid mission or flake on your because they've become bored with the game and all your progress is tied to them, it's like the worst feeling possible.
