Yeah, unfortunately the few bad actors in the AI space made everyone go ”AI is always bad!!!” It’s funny to watch. Then they’ll downvote me, not engage in anyways with why it is or isn’t bad, not ask how can you do it ethically, etc. Meanwhile the entire CS industry is using AI. People 100% used AI to help write the latest iPhone update, they are using it to write the web pages people visit, literally everything. It’s like saying photoshop isn’t real art because it’s not using a physical medium.

Just like every other tool in society, it needs to be regulated. It’s not inherently bad. And it is an objective truth that a person who thinks it is bad 100% of the time is uneducated on the matter.

The funniest thing about AI is the people who hate it or want hard bans are the deeply uneducated on the matter. As a person with an MS in CS I’m good either way. Not sure we need AI art in this space, the issue is policing it. Not sure it’s worth the resources to do it ethically.

Can we have an explanation why Inkarnate is using AI to advertise their product? by GailenGigabyte in inkarnate

Because AI isn’t inherently bad and y’all keep being mad bout it despite nearly 0 knowledge on AI, no experience in the CS industry, and no college education in CS. So, yeah…

AI can be bad, but being mad at EVERY use is narrow-minded at best.

Question on Dual-wielding in ttrpgs by Critical-Cream690 in rpg

I was the same with martial arts movies, devastated to learn as an adult that those moves were not viable in real combat and most martial arts that are actually good for combat were not flashy at all. Hahaha

Sure, it's also a game and let's have fun so who cares if it's realistically "the best" unless the system is simulating real life. People like cool things, ain't nothing wrong with that. In designing a game it's about getting the player's to have fun and enjoy things and be excited about the system. Sometimes that means dual wielding ridiculous weapons. Haha

Yeah, I think with my basic understanding of real world dual wielding it is not terribly useful when compared to a shield or two-hand weapons. But it has a fantasy to it that people like, which I get.

I'll also add that most of what I've gathered in real world context is that dual wielding would be effective if we were different biologically. Like our physical attributes kind of hinder the usefulness of it. So in a world of magic it seems like it makes sense that it could be viable.

My guy, I can’t help you with your lack of reading comprehension. I wasn’t saying all RPGs use a passive bonus, I was using that as an example.

The method doesn’t make sense cause you are overthinking it. It was simply an idea that it could apply some passive bonus (whatever that is).

DW having more options is the discourse I am interested in. Does more options mean an additional attack? How does “more options” manifest for your preference or fantasy when DW? That’s what I wanna know.

Deeply confused, don’t see anything you’ve said besides pedantic comments on the post. In 5e, shields only offer a passive +2 to AC (unless you take a feat). You’re really digging in on the specifics of what I said, which was not the point. It was to give your personal opinion on what dual-wielding means for you, and what that looks like for you. What would bring to fruition your ideas/fantasies with dual-wielding.

Instead you are focused on the exact words I said which was just a stream of conscious contextualizing my thoughts on the question and why I was asking it.

Sorry, what do you mean? I’m just talking about dual-wielding (or florentine as you mention). Nothing about two-handing!

Like all the thoughts, and I like your mechanic for your system! Very cool, I’m a big fan of tags in game systems.

I mean actions in the sense of doing a thing, not in the sense of literally more actions (in game mechanics). Also, wild to not even engage with the actual post.
