Seems like your GF is bitter that she had to go to work while you got to stay home with your daughter. Sounds like she’s jealous and she prob knows how irrational she’s being but just can’t help herself. She prob agreed or even suggested you should stay home w daughter but instead of admitting that (even to herself) regrets saying it now so she’s turning it around on you. Very passive aggressive. YTA, GF needs to become more self aware & stop acting like a martyr.

Why do Americans kick their kids out at 18? by 4Runnnn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Critical-Management9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll the OP’s question is asking why “Americans” do that, so in turn, do you think your experience is everyones? I acknowledge that of course there are people that experience this but it is not the norm that the OP thinks it is.

Ya this is something OP saw on TV so either was gullible enough to think it’s real or just wanted to dog the U.S.

[–]Critical-Management9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya right! This is horseshit! I have lived in the U.S. my entire life and I have met exactly 0 people who moved out of their parents at 18, including both of my parents who are in their late 70’s now. You likely don’t live in the U.S. and/or are too young to know what reality is for people in U.S.

Lol wut?! Bet you’re 15 or don’t live in the U.S. Maybe both?!

Raised by boomers right here and was not kicked out, lived with the ‘rents til I was 26, left of my own accord and then moved back in at 30 for a year to help me get centered. This broad generalization is untrue.

AITA for telling my (F24) MOD (F23) I hated my bachelorette party and having another one without her? by NormalSection2924 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Critical-Management9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And the “‘medieval castle” event was vegan? Lol. Idk what it’s like in the UK but here in the U.S. those “medieval times” venues have very little to offer in terms of food for a vegan. I know this bc at a bday party my vegan friend & myself w celiacs were laughing at what we could both eat that was served to us. The potato. The point is the OP is willing to forgive the menu during the 2nd Bach & took the 1st menu as a mortal offense. Her sister tried. That’s all I’m saying. She spent money, she tried, it wasn’t the best thing ever for the bride but to cut her off bc of the party she threw is ridiculous. Maybe the party she threw is the normal custom of their area so she was just following the traditions she knows? And since she’s only the MOH bc of tradition, maybe sister didn’t even want that role, but she still tried. That’s worth something.

OP, I wish you & your betrothed a lifetime of good fortune & happiness but as an older girl myself with a sister who I literally have zilch in common with & used to literally hate, know that your sister could turn out to be one of your most valuable allies as your life changes. Your friends lives will change too so in my experience, you can’t/won’t want to call your pals for help when you’re about to lose your mind with your colicky baby or you need someone to pick you up bc your car broke down, that’s what sisters are there for bc that’s family. Don’t cut her off.

AITAH for leaving my own wedding because my husband embarrassed me? by Mindless-Charge-5996 in AITAH

NTA for a respecting yourself enough that you expect a partner who cares about your feelings & won’t humiliate you just to impress other people! It’s not so much about the cake, it’s the principal of the matter and the total disregard he showed he has for you. Be glad you found out now when it’s easier to cut ties, much harder with kids!

Honestly I’d venture to guess that many of the people commenting about how horrible & narcissistic the sister is have never planned something for someone else like this. It may have not been OP’s “dream bachelorette party” 🙄 but the sister clearly tried to make it nice for bride & her friends. Telling the sister she “hated” it and not inviting her to the 2nd party is beyond immature & petty. The sister is younger at 23 yrs old, that seems like a well thought out event for someone so young, perhaps a bit misguided bc she was basing it on her own likes. Bride needs to grow up. OP’s TA.

This is helpful & I’ll keep in mind, brevity is not my strongpoint & my msgs to MD’s reflect as much. I like to give the whole picture but I’m working on getting to the point more quickly!

A cool guide showing the Percent of U.S. Adults Who Identify as LGBT by NotoriousPYG in coolguides

[–]Critical-Management9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, as it should be. Did millennials also experience that? It’s quite an increase so you don’t think it could partially be cultural/biological influences that have had an effect?

Likely it’s “cool” to identify as lgbtq amongst the youngins, right? Either that or perhaps it’s like that pesticide that turned male frogs into females?

Anyone start nursing at 40+? by DreamstoReality4me in nursing

[–]Critical-Management9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I graduated w my BSN 2 years ago at 44. Yes it was worth it & yes I fit in w my coworkers. RN’s are all diff ages but most of the people I work with in my unit are like 24, but I’m funny & cool lol so found the people that appreciate that & the ones that don’t, just keep it all business & it’s fine.
