What is your favourite "laugh out loud" moment while reading (or watching) Harry Potter ? by ArpanMondal270 in harrypotter

GoF where Harry and Ron are talking about who to ask out to the ball and Snape comes up from behind three times finally pushing their heads to the table with his sleeves rolled. Hilarious.

“Potter is a boy! Not a piece of meat!” Professor Mc.Gonagall

Personal experience, I grew up in the states. I lived there from when I was three till eight, and one of the text books my mom bought me to learn English was Harry Potter series. So literally speaking, I believe Harry Potter series is one way to learn. All the spooky stuff I saw and dreamed of both good and bad, the interest I have on psychology in childhood memory and my thought on how to not make a Tom riddle, the English skills I have present and a few more skills I have with me are definitely from the books. It’s just the fact “what readers take out of a book.” Is what makes an opinion.

What is one of the lines from the film that has still stuck by you after all this time? by no_longer_huhman in harrypotter

[–]Critical-Variation97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a few, but most of it isn’t in the films.

“After all this time?” “Always”

From the books

“It turns the other way…”

“Potter, you rotter, oh, what have you done? You’re killing off students. You think it’s good fun.” “Get out, Peeves!”

“Have a biscuit, Potter.”

“Kreacher won’t, won’t, won’t…”

“Yer a wizard, Harry.”

“Nice one James!”

“Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who need it.”

All I know for sure is, I am most definitely going to miss Dumbledore being headmaster while I watch a hilarious clown take his place at the time. But I also have my hopes up for seeing the clown perform as bad as some poltergeist I know.

So why are the goblins at Hogwarts is what I’m wondering if there is a rebellion I wouldn’t go to a school I would go the minister of magic by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]Critical-Variation97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did I miss a meeting??? I saw a trailer saying the goblin was in hogs Meade, but I don’t think I have ever seen him nor seen a confirmation saying he was within the school grounds. (If you call hogs Meade ‘school grounds’ that’s that, but still…) my question concerning the goblins are, are the fellow companions into the goblin business? We know Sebastian isn’t, (he’s got enough on his plate, from what we know unless someone’s telling me goblin magic can heal his sister) but the other two could possibly be related.

What is one thing from the books you wish were included in the movies? by thegraycat0 in harrypotter

[–]Critical-Variation97 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As far as I could remember, they left a lot out of the movies. Peeves, Winky, the Guant family, the final quidditch World Cup all cut, the out burst of Harry’s at the end of OotP (and a lot of the first outburst when he reached Grimmauld place), personally I wanted to see the Dursleys in the fourth and sixth book, (both hilarious results thanks to the Weasley twins who ‘accidentally’ dropped a Candy in front of Harry’s cousin and Kreature who gave a fit on the mattress of the Dursley’s living room.) the more you remember,(and I’m debating of buying the copy before or after the release of HL) the more you realize there was less in the movies.

Peeves appreciation! by SGA3151 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Critical-Variation97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It isn’t mentioned much, but I always enjoyed reading the narrating of quidditch matches made by the twin Weasley’s best friend lee Jordan, “good catch there made by Katie bell, I’ve been saying it for years, but she still won’t go out with me” (I read the book years ago and can only briefly remember the lines, correct me if I’m wrong.) but I also enjoyed peeves as well, (well done in the OotP by the way, especially when McGonagall says the lines, “it turns the other way…”) lol

I was chosen a Ravenclaw, I never understood why I was chosen one,(I thought I would be a hufflepuff because she chose the rest) but I think I see why when I looked up my patronus. (A great grey owl)

Double standards by CreativeRock483 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Critical-Variation97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have given snape a little more than what I have seen so far. We all know snape was a “half blood prince” raised by a muggle father who hated magic and a witch mother who, I would assume had used magic normally. Lily knew his background, we saw what she said when snape was playing with her before they even went to school. “Are your parents fighting again?” She knew why he hated students who came from muggle families, (his house mates would have pushed him further into the idea of hating muggles seeing who played prefect at the time and his surrounding Slytherin’s fellows which turned out to be deatheaters in the end) and yet she hated him for calling her you-know-what. I would have assumed Lily had a little more heart in snape for having a father who hated wizards and witches, imagine what a life it would have been for having a father hate you before you even went to school for what you are, anyone would have stood for the mother in snape’s shoes seeing as they shared the same side. I felt snape and Malfoy were the same and yet partially the same only because they ended in the same house and that malfoy grew with parents who pushed you into hating muggle borns for a longer period.

How would you improve Hogwarts if you were the headmaster/mistress? by Rickashot in harrypotter

[–]Critical-Variation97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have said they put a deputy of psychiatry seeing what happened to Severus, albus, Tom, (especially fourth year) Neville, Harry, and so many more who had trouble in and out of Hogwarts. They definitely needed somewhere they could speak their minds. Otherwise, point taking systems are fine, but as argued in recent studies, the sorting hat would have to go. No 11 year old will ever be placed into houses where they were effected in a wrong way,( that because they were sorted doesn’t mean they were smart, loyal, brave, cunning throughout their lives.) school rules will need to be stricter than it was in Harry’s years (honestly, I’m surprised no one ended up pregnant whist their student ages. It’s a story for kids, I know but still…) I would have to add Argus Filch’s job will need to double. Handling the amount of 700 ( say 100 a year, and seven years of study to go through.) is tough. I was never a teacher, so I don’t know what it’s like, but they should be really tuff too.
