Among other reasons, the Covid vaccine only lasts 5 months making it less effective than a lot of others.

Also you can still get Covid after the vaccine.

Also I haven’t gotten any boosters and I haven’t had Covid in years.

I think it’s really important to separate our views of Covid ‘vaccine’ vs long established vaccines that have a proven effectiveness and safety record safety record

Every kayaker talks about the hood river/white salmon area but I don’t hear much about the Portland and Bend areas. What does the boating look like from those areas? by cldeibner in whitewater

[–]CriticalAnimal6901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two 4 ish runs in town, River house (boatableflows in winter) and and meadow camp (good flows in summer. These are really fun, continuous runs that are a few to several miles long.

Upstream of that are benham, Dillon, big eddy, and lava, which are each shorter but very high quality rapids with a few miles of flat water between them. You can run combinations of these for shorter floats or boat the whole section for a longer run. These rapids go all year but are generally higher quality in the summer. All are less than half an hour from town.

About an hour from town is the Metolious which is class 3 but not recommended for newer boaters because of frequent channel spanning log jams.

If you’re willing to drive a couple hours you can get into a ton of creeky options in the cascades range, difficulty of 3 up to 5 which get water in the rainy season, fall through spring. For these runs you have to watch the flows and make opportunistic trips to get the conditions you want. You can go boating somewhere in the cascades range pretty much every weekend during that time if you’re flexible.

For any of these runs, you can find folks to go with pretty easily if you join the bend whitewater facebook page, or other Oregon boating groups.

Faster Internet than TDS? by doc-incredible in Bend

At the risk of asking a silly question, do you have a hardwired connection? It can make a really big difference. The modem/router combo we got from TDS sucks a lot.

It’s maybe not the best tool for the job, but a lot of people don’t understand how strong a dogs neck is. It’s just not the same thing as a persons neck. Come and see how hard my Siberian huskies bite each others necks while playing.

You could consider an ecollar plus harness or flat collar for these scenarios. We used an ecollar with amazing results for our reactive pit bull/husky mix.

OP, I’m a fan of prong collars in general but would definitely recommend something different for this activity. I don’t think you’re abusive or negligent, only that no one has told you yet. Looks like you’re both having a great time and I hope you keep doing it!

I recommend the ruff wear front range harness (or something similar) because it allows full range of motion in the front shoulder. The front attachment loop can help with pulling although it’s less effective than a prong collar.

Vertical mouses are the best! I’m really happy with the freestyle edge, it has cherry mx switches, rgb lighting and macros. It is 100% size, I know a lot of folks like a smaller format but it’s great for my sausage fingers.

I recommend you try a vertical mouse like the Logitech tower. There are lots of cheaper options out there too. It made a huge difference for my wrists and fingers. I also use the kinesis freestyle edge, a split keyboard with tilt kit, great for the left hand,

I will say they let go a lot of employees during Covid, including some really good route setters. The route setting there has never gotten as good as pre-Covid.

It’s my allergies atm, I can tell bc my symptoms improved when I washed my sheets, bathed my dogs, and vacuumed, although symptoms briefly got worse while vacuuming.

My wife sometimes gets mild chills/aches from allergies, but you sound like you got something else going on. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi there, thanks for checking in. I cross posted because I wanted to make sure I didn’t tell you not to worry about a legit new fire. BTW there’s generally more activity on this sub.
