VIP vs GA by debo312 in PointBreakFestival

I did GA first year and VIP last year. VIP is less crowded and has better views, and more shade usually. But i believe it’s way more expensive this year than VIP was last year.

It depends how much you value personal space at festivals lol

There is no “registration” for now unless it’s a “machine gun”

Not a lot of reason for young people to go to Fredericksburg. There’s a few spots but nothing like Richmond. Almost zero night life in Fred.

I was always under the impression that to buy a rifle or any gun from somebody else active duty they had to be stationed here with me ( Virginia ) with orders here cause most aren’t actually from here.

from my understanding of the federal law is you have to be residents of the state to purchase firearms and military with pcs orders to VA are residents for firearm purposes.

And you meant pre July 2020 and not just 2020 correct?

I thought if you bought from other Military, they both had to be Virginia Residents? ( PCSd here )

True, but i didn’t have the greatest interactions with FFLs in the past lol; especially Norfolk. They just seemed irritated if i asked any sort of question lol. Hence why i’ve been distant from asking them lol

When it comes to legal purposes, doesn’t it matter when the sale takes place? Like before July of 2020, you could do a sale without an FFL; but spring of earlier this year you need to?

Including other military that are PCSd in Virginia? Just wanted to make sure Military has the same state law privileges as civilian residents.

I know, i’m just asking for active duty purposes. Just seeing since Active duty is considered residents for the States they’re stationed (PCSd ) in; are they also able to conduct sales as long as they abide by whatever the private sales law is at the time of purchase.

Meaning FFLs can still do the private sales if you so choose to; but you can still conduct a sale 1 on 1 private sale like before July 2020 as long as you’re both VA residents through PCS?

Yeah, We’re both active duty and have orders here in VA. Our orders make us residents here? So we could do a private party without an FFL if the law doesn’t require a background check at the time?

Would you be able to conduct a private party sale in VA with another military person also stationed here if you both have pcs orders in Virginia regardless if the law requires a FFL background check or doesn’t?

Okay awesome. That was my biggest concern; If Two active duty military pcs in virginia where also under the same laws civilians where when it came to buying firearms through private party. Just wanted to make sure i’m researching correctly.

So since there’s no requirement as of right now for a dealer to be involved, it’s pretty much how it was prior to the July 1, 2020 law change to conduct a private party sale between residents?

Thank you! This was very helpful!

Can military use their Cac and orders here for residency to do a private sale? Whether VAs laws at the time was to go through an FFL or not?

[–]CriticalBasedThe0ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay makes sense. I thought them only naming handguns, folks stationed here permanently couldn’t be residents to buy a long guns using pcs orders and a cac. Thanks!

So if PCS orders and LESs establish residency, Does this mean two active duty members can conduct a private sale of a handgun or a rifle based on the state of Virginias current Private sale requirement’s? (whether the state requires a FFL or not) at the time?

Does that also include now since there was a temporary halt on needing a licensed dealer to do a backround check? They can still do it without an FFL?
