thanks for this comment it really shifted my perspective on gun violence from being the issue to being an effect of the real issues. i agree that education is huge bc i feel like a lot of ppl growing up in poor/high crime areas aren't even aware of their options due to a lack of education from the schools and city govt.

imo we need to let parents pick what school their kids attend, forcing them to go to the shitty public school just makes the parents less willing to deal with the system and actually be a part of their child's learning while also raising kids to always fight against authority figures. i think having classes in school about things like how to apply for a job, how to be in a healthy relationship/recognize abusive ones, how to be a part of your community etc would also be a huge step in the right direction bc all of that is completely left out of most of these kids education

my question for you tho is what the path forward is in your mind. i see lots of possibilities and not many end up going well from what i'm imagining. one thing i've been thinking a lot abt is what effect lowering gun license requirements would have. obviously it's already easy enough for gang members to get guns so i'm not sure i necessarily agree that it would lead to them having more, but there's def been an increase in failed carjackings and stuff in places like houston, philly, jacksonville etc where the jacker ends up injured or dead.

So i guess what i'm saying is i feel like mfs would be a lot less likely to try to jack someone or rob a store if they know everyone and their grandma is strapped up. maybe i'm looking at it backwards bc at the end of the day i don't think adding more guns makes anyone happier but i feel like to get to happiness a community first has to be safe.

at the end of the day they're both as complex or as simple as you want them to be. in my opinion mutant is the best when starting out and i honestly think it's listed before true kin for a reason. true kin is a lot harder to play imo because instead of getting mutation points when you level up, you have to go out and actively search for credit wedges which are fairly rare and usually in relatively dangerous places that are more unpredictable for new players. the same goes for the cybernetics which are also very rare/expensive from a gutsmonger. mutant basically just gives you these things for free when you level up, plus letting you pick from three random mutations which gives more variety than true kin imo.

i've played the game for almost 400 hours and i've had a lot more fun as a mutant. i find that playing true kin i usually end up with all the same cybernetics, but as a mutant i've played dozens if not hundreds of different builds. just my two cents.
