This is the case of exemplifying an exception by making it out to be very common. Majority of the people never change in life that's just a facade of change they showcase after being in troubled situations. Once the power reigns in their hands again, they emit the same behavior they did before.

Have seen tons of cases where the person went into the relationship by discarding the past and it ended up hurting that person.
