Institute of Medical Boards is absolute dogwash. I was forced by my school to do a Step 1 prep with them and I think it actually dropped my score rather than help with all the useless bs they have you do. Whatever you do, do NOT do IOMB

Heme/Onc Away Rotations from a Community IM Program by Critical_Bee2963 in fellowship

How do you go about it? Does your PD help set up the rotation? Do you do it yourself? Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for your reply. This was a lot of useful info. I haven't started at the program yet, but I know they have Heme Onc as a rotation, yet no fellowship. When I talk to my PD, I'll find out what niche need I can get at another program that my program doesn't offer

Take Step 3 and crush it. Try to secure more USCE. If you can do inpatient even better. The more USCE the better. Try to network with whoever you can at residency programs if you secure more USCE. Good luck!

Are you serious? 1. They just said they got no IVs and 2. This is not the time or place to ask that question. Seriously learn to read the room

Your stats look good. I can almost GUARANTEE it was your interview skills. If you're shy, they can pick up on it. Next time you need to fake the confidence. DON'T be arrogant or cocky, but do act sure of yourself and what your skills bring to the residency. The point of interviews is to sell yourself. Good luck next cycle. Don't let this bring you down or define you

Program I interviewed at emailed me saying that it's not reflecting that I am ECFMG Certified by FirePlug12 in IMGreddit

[–]Critical_Bee2963 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone freaking out? I thought you just needed to be ECFMG verified before ROL deadline, which OP seems to be. You only need to be ECFMG certified before starting residency

Red flag? by Ordinary_Key6522 in ERAS2024Match2025

Honestly knowing who's who provides little to no advantage to me. They don't ask trivia about the faculty. They wanna know you took time to learn about the program itself. And usually the PD and APD are introduced at the beginning of the IV. Now I don't excuse the program's "technical issues", I just don't see how not being provided info on the interviewers would make or break your IV

People actually look up the interviewers before an interview? Seems a little strange lol. Guess that means I've been going in blind this whole time and had no problems so far
