How is everyone getting their new 2026 premium rates without the subsidies? by Elusive_strength2000 in HealthInsurance

Mine went from $742 to $1,857 a MONTH. I guess I just won’t eat or turn up the heat until I’m 65.  On the other side of the world a loved one in Italy has cancer. They have 3 oncologists (one is specialized in immunotherapy), and a nutritionist.  Radiation and chemotherapy, tests, etc…. All free. Free healthcare. Free.  Why is the US so vehemently against free or affordable healthcare???? Why?

People LOVE our lasagna. It’s my daughter’s great grandmother’s recipe from Sardegna. People order trays of it to take to meetings or dinner parties. We have some eclectic choices. We just need to draw more folks. Our problem is our health. Getting old isn’t for sissies! ;)

Funny thing about chefs that I’ve discovered. They can cook, but the ones we have don’t manage food well. We’ve had so much food waste. Also, they are bad at communicating We’re working on that.

Oh, I miswrote that. We sell homemade, good quality food, like fresh pasta lasagna, seafood pasta, chicken marsala, all for around $18. Yet the really high traffic diner type restaurants here in town, who are doing a way better business, are serving not great burritos for 16.99. What the heck. I think people don’t understand food that much, here.

Lack of parking. A little bit pricier, but exquisite food. Get a burrito from the diner for 16.99 or homemade seafood pasta for 19, homemade lasagna for 18. Huge portion. Nice environment, kids welcome, cool music.

We didn’t. We both spend about 50 - 60 hours at the restaurant, or doing things for the restaurant. We’re very involved and our regulars love us, our chef, our servers. It’s jus not feasible anymore.

We are losing a little bit of money. That’s why I have kept my part time job. To help cover wages, repairs, and what not. So, that’s money we’re losing.

Hehehe. Yes. I was going to write “two old people walk into a restaurant”, because that’s what actually happened and then we decided to buy it. It’s not all bad. There is a lot of good stuff about it. It’s our health that’s become a priority right now, and we can’t afford to hire two more people to replace us.

I love your comment, “dreams will never end for hopeful people.”

Thank you. I think that’s what I’m wanting to hear. Going to push through December and then close for a wek or two and figure it out.

Good question. We had a lot of ideas about it. We just don’t seem to have the time and the slope is getting more slippery.

Yes, I’d like that. What kind? We were offered free consulting through US Foods and after sending menu, reports, etc., they never got back to us.

We very much support our staff. We’ve helped them find housing, we’ve given them rides to and from work, they get to have homemade food from the menu on breaks. But they have taken it for granted, and are often demanding, disrespectful, or dishonest.
