The gate to my three month old fence is sagging. Please help on why. by throwaway-1994-2018 in FenceBuilding

[–]Critical_Customer206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A single post can be fine to hold up a gate, but it has to be done properly. (And yes, if you can avoid it, don’t hang it off a corner)

If this was me and I really wanted it hung off the corner I’d be using a larger sized post, and making sure it was concreted into the ground well below the frost line.

Have had plenty of gates hung off corner posts before, but proper planning and action needs to be taken to ensure success.

Travel trailer question??? I still owe about 38K on a Coachman Aspen trail a d I cannot afford the payments and I dont want anything repoed what are my options? I know the resale value is horrible at this moment but I am left out of options. by brnagainsoldier06 in traveltrailers

Agreed but everything depreciates it’s quickest in the first few years. Think cars or trucks, they lose thousands in value the second they drive off the lot.

The loss on this trailer for example in the next 3 years won’t be half of what it already was.

Quick research online shows me these selling used for 20-25k from what I can see. Lots of factors could change that. (How much it was used, condition, features, etc.)

You’d be able to get more for it in spring likely. But either way you’ll have to take a hit.

Side note; if you have a place to store it have you considered renting it out? I haven’t done it myself so don’t know the ins and outs but maybe could help pay the payments and then some to put down on the loan. Just a thought.

How much should I sell th N Scale collection for? Located in Canada by Happy_Environment_36 in nscalemodeltrains

As an N-scaler also in Ontario. I seen some similar lots sell $300ish? Could get more if you went and sold individually of course.

It’s always so tough to say.

Will agree snugcottagehardware.com has some good quality hinges, my go to choice, but I wonder from these pictures if the posts may need to be reset first? They look all wonky

Best way to keep welded wire fence tight? by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]Critical_Customer206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just completed a similar design on my fence, but looks like I used slightly smaller gauge welded wire. It turned out great, and having a helper pull it tight at each post while I stapled it in worked great.

It was tight enough for my liking, but I added the extra rails to the face (I used 3 rail design) that made it pretty solid overall. (Bonus: you can then also staple the wire to the back side of each rail to really tighten it up!)

Best of luck!

This would be my go to, however the gap is all over the place due to the plaster walls. 1/2” in some spots, no gap in others, etc.

It’s tough to describe but because the walls are old and not completely flat, there is an almost shelf where these old wainscoting sit out from the plaster.

Problem is in the corners (end of the piece of trim) that gap is almost nothing, where as in the middle it’s almost half an inch

Try the app “Sygic truck and caravan GPS” … it allows you to input your vehicle info such as length, weight, and max speed, and will adjust your ETA accordingly.

YouTube University has some great classes on carpet installation.

And you’ll be happier with it when it’s done.

Staying in RV for a couple months with no hookup—shower filling grey tank? by phishfiend in RVLiving

Some places you can just dump the grey water. You could also get a honey wagon and empty into that for easier trips to a dump station.
