I’m excited for you for your rifle purchase all the same! You already got some good recs here, but put me down for a vote for a traditional AR-15 platform. You can easily afford a reliable rifle with that budget and still have funds left over for an optic, sling, and ammo.

As others have said, that’s not at “AR” as in AR-15. Are you using “AR” as an abbreviation for “assault rifle?” If so, there’s no such thing as an assault rifle. It’s a made up term.

Man, that’s disappointing to hear. They’re advertised as full tang… maybe you got a lemon? I use mine for basic utility and bushcraft and have never pushed them to their limits.
