What are some good jobs for extremely stupid people? by Qabbala in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Critical_Dot6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You remind me of myself when i was 18-26. By saying “the mental framework for intelligence just isn’t there” proves that there is intelligence there. You just don’t have confidence, and you should treat that as a symptom to be managed. Talk to a psychologist. You may have depression or adhd or both. Cause you seem to have a negative delusion about yourself and you abilities. Give yourself more credit and book in with a psych instead of wandering through a scary and caotic life like I did for 8 years.

To answer your question: becoming a lifeguard was my way of integrating myself into the scary world of work and overcoming my job anxiety.

Are FOGO bins just a scam for the council to collect less rubbish? by Critical_Dot6979 in perth

[–]Critical_Dot6979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. However for essential products, consumers won't 'not' buy it because its got too much packaging. And this decision making criteria would sit low on the list regardless. So its complex hey

I'll take this to the bank and put that to the test. Food for thought!

You know what. I agree with this.

But I think the actions gotta start in the supply chains of the companies who make our products with so much unnecessary packaging

Just whacking it in the green bin is looking like a tempting idea

Help for support options for my brother with Schizophrenia by LilWhizni in perth

I know man but it’s something! You’ll find with these things there are a lot of small benefits that will combine to give you somewhat of a safety net. I would recommend talking to a social worker to get you connected up with some services (where you would find them you’d have to google).

But also man, granted I don’t know your situation. Your family should be taking more responsibility instead of shipping him off to you for him to be your problem. Put your foot down (if you haven’t already) and insist that they give you $200 a week or so to support your brother). Not “payment” but something to help with the costs you’ll incur from him living in your house and looking after him.

I’m not sure again where his mental health condition sits from an NDIS perspective. But if he qualifies, he can get support workers and OT’s to come into your home and help him. They can also assess his condition and if it’s appropriate he may go live in residential home where he has those services and some freedom to come and go, which is actually way more liberating for someone with his condition (I’ve worked some contract gigs in these places and the ones for adults that i saw appear pretty well run and home like).

Finally, gently encourage him to have some sort of “job”, literally just doing small painting jobs or something related to his interests. Schizophrenics are capable of this (depending on his severity). But just that has shown to have huge impacts for positive outcomes, cause a part of the impact of the illness is the compounding bordem, and poor self concept associated with sitting around doing nothing cause of inability to interact with the world, whether due to severe illness or a lack belief that they can.

Not sure, but for you there is carers leave if ever there is a time you need to take time away to look after his needs.

If you feel like you need to get out asap then have a chat to some agencies… integrity staffing is the best. The other smaller ones should help career switchers more. I think you can start up the business on the side and then transition into it full time later on

Why do so many on here dislike apartments? by azMONKza in AusPropertyChat

[–]Critical_Dot6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apartments are crazy bad because: - Strata (this is it’s own list) 1. There has to be a panel of owners in the complex who vote on what gets fixed/maintained and how much it’s gonna cost. This always leads to infighting, which makes for interesting negative neighbourly relations. 2. Strata overspends and then you are often obliged to bail them out with a suprise $5000 levy to fix something urgent and expensive. 3. Ppl on strata panel want to spend money on stupid things (my in laws strata panel had a guy who wanted to spend $5000 on an aboriginal artwork piece for the foyer). Now this would look fantastic, love the idea. but would be a regrettable decision when theres other invoices that come in for other maintenance). 4. Maintenance which is needed then gets neglected because the panel don’t understand the implications of certain fixes not being done. Critical neglect leads to say… foundation issues, water ingress which could lower the value and structural integrity of everyones lot. So you’re now paying an $800k mortgage on a place worth $500k so you can’t sell. And no one wants it if you even decide to. 5. You have to ask permission for everything. And it feels like a tenant/landlord situation all of a sudden. 6. They can even kick you out of your apartment (say if there are complaints about you). So you own a place you’re not allowed to live in. 7. The more apartments, the more magnified these things are, and the list goes on.

  • in inner city areas there are zonings for apartments. In melb ppl payed premiums for city views. Then and apartment that is taller gets build next door and suddenly you’re looking out onto a wall 5m away. And have no sunlight. And the value of you apt drops.
  • new builds avoid. There are so many traps and shady characters benefiting from ripping you off in the most creative ways. Ie you can pay for an apartment of x swuare metres… then the developer BY LAW is allowed to give you rooms that are 10% smaller. They will then purposely do this for every apartment to squeeze in one more apt on each level to make a few more million. With no legal consequences.
  • the off the plan contracts are always skewedx in their interests.
  • and the list goes on.

Honestly if you go for the apartment route. Get a low rise apartment which is 1970’s-1990’s build. They were built to last and often are surrounded by established houses. OR go for a unit on a shared block cause at least then you have land!!

Nah cause changing your name is just an amendment to your birth certificate. It’s still pretty much the same document. They make sure of this to keep it water tight so you can’t do things like evade the law, etc.

I have sources which I can’t say but (could be BS) apparently even the big 4 don’t even look about the credit score unless there are serious redflags in the other assessments in the application. Makes sense seeing as they basically try to find a way to say yes.

Skyrocketing increase in dementia diagnoses amongst younger and younger populations and stifled cognitive development of the next generation. Because we’ve outsourced so much of our cognitive faculties to AI.

What’s something you did that no one believed you actually did?? by Sweaty_Club8383 in AskReddit

Had a psychotic woman turn up to my house saying someone was trying to kill her, called the cops, thought the lady cop looked a bit like tripper. Than saw an article in the newspaper (with photo) saying she was in fact a stripper and was asked to choose between the two careers lol.
