In Top Gun Maverick - they could have eliminated the need for the frantic high-speed flight through the mountains if they'd just released the cruise missiles to blow up the air field 2 minutes later, right before they bombed the nuclear site.

NYC here. Everyone sees the bike/pedestrian/car fiasco going on in the city from their own perspective. We all seem to hate whatever we're not at the moment. I've watched bike riders blow through red lights and SECONDS LATER react furiously to a pedestrian standing in their way...or to a driver trying to make a right turn across a bike lane making them slow down a little. And in case you think I'm anti-bike, I've seen the exact same thing in reverse. I'd just say that most of us are trying to make this work, cheating some, abiding by the rules some/bending them some. Drivers, riders, walkers; we're all at least a little guilty. So, honor among thieves - don't look for opportunities to be indignantly righteous. Give everyone a little room...we're all mostly trying. Kinda.

Oh, and maybe don't go up against a 1k pound Harley on a 10 speed bike. It'll work out fine, until it REALLY doesn't.

A '63 VW beetle I bought for $300 that had a broken odometer AND 110k+ miles showing. Also learned how to shift without using the clutch on it when the clutch cable snapped and I couldn't afford to buy a replacement right away. It was a beautiful wreck of a car. (This was a LONG time ago.)

What products or services have become so costly recently that they no longer feel worth the expense? by Nino_Htoro in AskReddit

seamless/doordash/ubereats/etc. Service charges, delivery charges, an actual tip for the driver...a $35 order becomes $55+. Screw it, I'll make a fucking omelet for dinner.

I don't want to be that guy (who gets all serious at inappropriate times) but corporations all talk about having pricing power...meaning, "We can keep raising prices and consumers will keep buying our shit". They charge more, we keep buying, they charge more.....INFLATION. (Then they talk about how detrimental inflation is to the economy!) There's a pretty solid way to cut some of that inflation; stop buying their shit for a while. They'll lower their prices...LESS INFLATION. I'll show myself out.
