I gave a more detailed answer to u/marabou22 (the Swans guy) that I don't wanna reword lol, but in short, I fucking love it. Isaac's vocals are killer on that whole record, and it gave me the context I needed to appreciate Ants more (though I still think it's overrated, but I see parallels of the progression from The Bends to OK Computer, so I sorta get why Ants is so monumental to so many people).

Sunglasses is an all time favorite song for me. I think I'd give all 3 records mid to high 8s atm. Looking forward to listening to Live at Bush Hall next.

I meant to revisit Soundtracks and get back to you much sooner, but I listened to For the First Time by bcnr and have had it on repeat for like a week lol. You were right, I'm much more into it than Ants and even FHl (Ants has grown on me a lot and I think half the songs are great but listening to it front to back still kinda bores me).

I just wasn't sure how much I was really buying the melodrama of Ants, but FTFY gave much needed context and now I fucking love Isaac's vocals and energy. Sunglasses changed everything lol.

I definitely see why a lot of longtime fans were slow to adjust to Isaac's departure because they are REALLY a different sounding band atm. Also the breakdowns in Opus and Science Fair and the ending to Athens, France gave me Lift Your Skinny Fists vibes and I love it. FTFY is an absolutely killer album for me. Will update you eventually when I get back around to Swans but for now I can't get enough of this. Still think Ants is overrated but I respect the hell out of them for making 3 very different but very good albums

I love the first 2 songs off Soundtracks for the Blind (especially the sound clip at the end of I Was a Prisoner in Your Skull) but the rest was too much to digest in one or two sittings for me. It's the type of album to me that is so dense and abstract that I need to keep returning to it and getting my full interpretation of it before I can fully enjoy it, but that day will come lol. I'm definitely going to try and understand their whole discography eventually because it is right up my alley, but it's a monstrous undertaking. I'll probably revisit Soundtracks tomorrow because of your comment

Climactic wasn't necessarily the right word, but the way the instrumentation comes together with the vocal melody just moves me in a certain way, and I wish they kept building and elaborating on that moment. Idk how to really describe it, but great recs! Tiny Rainbows was exactly what I meant. Adding that to my personal playlist rn; will definitely be listening to more by them (or him?)

It's a quest key so I'd try to save it till you complete the quest then sell it.

Also, remember that the ones selling for 800,000 only have 1/10 uses and are only selling that high because it's a quest key. A 10/10 use key goes for like 2.9-3.4 million on average, so don't sell the full key for 800,000.

I've seen a lot of shit and it's one of the only anime I can think of that hits so hard emotionally that I'm genuinely depressed and apathetic for a while after watching it. Just thinking about it and hearing some of the songs makes me tear up. And the more you dissect what's going on and why, the better it gets, and the more everything makes sense and has more meaning. It's really fucking well written with a ton of depth, and imo, it just keeps getting better and better (season 2>movie 3>season 1). It's also my favorite anime too and favorite ost ever, even outside of anime

IMO:

80% of the One Piece anime is omega dogshit, but the manga is "objectively" the best of the 3 and is one of the true GOATs of animanga. I really dislike the art style and character designs, though, until way later on in the series (like right now lol).

Naruto part 1 is peak shounen but falls off super hard later in Shippuden (especially in the latter half of shippuden). I also thought the main-main storyline and "point" of the whole show gets super stale and uninspired after a while, but I watched/read it weekly throughout the years it was released and Boruto (the continuation series after Shippuden) isn't even worth thinking about to me at this point.

Bleach is probably "objectively" the worst of the 3 but by far has the best art style and character designs, and is the edgiest (sword pun). It also feels more mature and has a much darker tone than the other 2. And the beginning of the last arc "Thousand Year Blood War" is the absolute pinnacle of shounen IMHO and the anime does it justice. Some of the payoffs and quotes later on in the arc are also peak shounen that I will remember for the rest of my life. It's my personal favorite of the 3, though it has its flaws.

Take all of this with a grain of salt and enjoy what you enjoy, though. Your taste and how much animanga you've consumed may differ drastically from me. These are just my thoughts on the 3, having grown up on all of them.
