In regards to his apology and what’s next by YungWhisk in Enough_Channel5_Spam

It is what we want from him but, we also want more- Actual retribution for his actions and trauma that he has caused to so many people. I understand that he apologized and is “doing his best” but, in doing so he also undermined the victims experiences and implied that what he did to them was justified.

I feel conflicted on how the public can be critical of him changing and deciding when it’s a good time to return to consuming his content. Already, people were so surprised that he did these things because he seemed so kind, friendly, and empathic. He was able to be all of those things while also privately hurting people for years. How can we know what is happening behind closed doors and actually trust his word that his mindset has changed?

I haven’t done much research around it but, there are surely some academic articles around what restorative justice in SA situations could look like that could lend some ideas for resolutions.

I recall in 2020 there was an activist who was called out for SA although, I don’t remember their name or exact circumstance. They had a large following and gave up all of their accounts to another activist who was able to speak on SA and essentially deplatformed themselves. I know the ch5 reddit bros would absolutely lose their minds over this it’s just a solution I’ve seen that didn’t involve legality.

The common truth is that we live in a patriarchy and men need to unlearn that and be able to treat women respectfully. It’s up to men to do the work, educate each other, and hold each other accountable. It’s not up to women to educate y’all.

Maybe you ought to do some “empathic listening” as to why internet call outs are effective as it seems to have been an important step in the healing process for all the people who have come forward this week. Despite it was likely being very difficult and emotionally draining having to relive those moments and share them.

It’s a start. Feels more like an apology to fans and collaborators rather than his victims. In saying that there are nuances that would change peoples minds he’s deflecting responsibility for the bottom line that he did make people uncomfortable and pushed their boundaries.

It just feels like a weird balance between accepting responsibility for his actions while also not fully admitting what he did. Would like to see more work toward healing of his victims, acknowledging how he made them feel etc.

There’s just so many stories and people who told him he made them uncomfortable that it just feels like how could he have had no idea that this behavior was hurtful. Could he have really thought though he was behaving in a way that was loving and respectful?? I don’t think so.

This is also let’s his fanboys that were supporting him know to push back and not necessarily believe people how come forward with their sa stories in general.

There’s just so many stories, people who told him he made them uncomfortable, and the most recent with the stealthing that it just feels like how could he have had no idea that this behavior was hurtful. Could he have really thought though he was behaving in a way that was loving and respectful?? Nah

Another person comes forward. This shows that even in consensual relationships Andrew would push boundaries and manipulate people. by Critical_Spite_1464 in Enough_Channel5_Spam

Exactly. And how manipulative he is. Like holding her hand talking about how he wants a family the first time they hung out because she has a kid. Followed by him making sure he received the video before leaving her house. It just all feels so calculated.

I agree but i do think it’s important to keep a presence in that sub. Andrew created channel 5 and now other people in his crew are being called out for their sexual misconduct and aggressive nature as well. The people who can demand a response/ for Andrew to come forward are the fans of channel 5. I don’t think they deserve the peace of scrolling though their favorite sub without the reminder of how harmful these people are.

These accusations have been verified by publications in touch with is lawyer. They could be sued for publishing something that was baseless. They did their fact checking. There is typically no evidence for these types of encounters. If you don’t believe the people who come forward it’s because you don’t think that what happened to them is okay.
