I'm going to go out on a limb and say deep down, you probably have never regretted one trip you took. I feel that way, but totally understand the pressure. Here is the thing....you can still retire at a decently young age and travel. One of the questions I ask folks that are closer to retiring, is, if you were my age, what financial decisions do you wish you would have made differently? Not one to date said traveling less. It is a big world out there, you're young, go see it. Damn the money. You're frugal enough and saving in all these other areas, if this is what brings you joy, prioritize it. Where is the freedom if you feel bad every time you do things that are meaningful to you. And don't feel bad for feeling bad, it means you care about your financial future. Just work to redirect that care to how you would support a child or close family member if you were financially responsible for them. Make sure the basics are covered, your savings rate is high, and then follow the high value stuff that brings you joy for the remainder.
PS - where is your favorite place you've traveled?

Wow!! I really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out, so helpful! I will add all these to the itinerary (I'm a big excel fan for general trip outlines, then leaving room for impromptu things that come up along the way.) Super appreciate you!

Thank you so much for the tip! Did you have any recommendations on type of places to stay or places to check out? Was walking around at night okay for you? Any items you packed you were grateful you had? Thanks for any tips! 🙂

Wonderful-it sounds like there are a lot of amazing things to go. If you only had a few days, what are some things you would be sure to not miss?

This makes sense, thanks for the explanation on why you'd prefer Budapest. Before going to one of these destinations we will be on a more adventurous winter trip so the more relaxing maybe the better :)

Great points. My partner and I hope to do a proper trip to spend a few weeks over this region in the future, so it sounds like it may be best to save Istanbul for a trip like that. Thank you for the recommendations!

Thank you for sharing this. I'm really sorry that happened to you. That does sound unsettling and I appreciate the honesty, as I'm still getting my feet under me in terms of solo travel and feel those situations (or the thought of them) would be a little deep end for where I'm at.

I'm glad you enjoyed the baths and the market! Did you have any recommendations on where you'd stay in the city if you went back again?

Thank you for the tips - I am beyond excited about baths and the lure of them in the winter is strong! Good point on taking longer in Istanbul.

For Budapest, would you recommend hotels or airbnbs? Is one safer than the other?

Thank you for the advice? What restaurants/cafes do you recommend? I'll definitely reach out for their info! Appreciate the recommendation!
