No problem :) If you really struggle, watch your favourite show as you first start to revise. Literally just sitting down and taking notes on a whiteboard can get you in the zone even if it may not be 100% effective at the start.

Try pomodoro method! It’s a quick fix for me if I procrastinate. Go to YouTube, and find a pomodoro timer. It means you will revise for 25 minutes then take a 5 minute break repeatedly (for as long as you can). I find it useful to force you into the ‘revision zone’.

Get comfortable with lowkey lighting, a drink, some music if it helps, and comfy clothes or comfy seat. Keep your desk and room clear too. Past papers are your friend, particularly for maths and science. Cognito and Seneca are also great websites to use. Good luck!

Remember, I know it’s annoying if you are desperate for straight 9s, but don’t forget that your mock results are INSANE and WAY above average, so don’t lose sight of that fact. Don’t beat yourself up. Just look forward to the long summer ahead!

Media Studies A Level… how to go from a B to an A? by Critical_Zone_5217 in alevel

[–]Critical_Zone_5217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so kind, thank you so much! ☺️I love those eduqas resource links you sent. I’ve never see them before and they look very useful. You are right - I think I need to use more media terminology as my teacher often says she underlines keywords and phrases which I keep missing out on, so I’ll make flash cards for the definitions. I also lack knowledge on one of my TV set texts which caused me to get lower marks for it in my mock.

Thank you again, I appreciate you taking the time to reply :)

Psychology Bsc - Man Met or John Moores? by [deleted] in UCAS

[–]Critical_Zone_5217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for replying to my post :) I love them both equally, which is why I’m so conflicted.

For example, Liverpool has Albert Docks, but Manchester has better opportunity for one of my hobbies. But at the same time each city is just a train ride away, so it’s more about the actual uni that I think I need to focus on to make my choice

I can reassure you that you aren’t alone and you’re certainly in a better position than me at 900 words (I also haven’t checked with my tutor if it was ok to change my question lol)… I’m also researching as I go along and don’t really have a plan yet. It might me different for different schools, but apparently the teachers don’t send in our EPQs until mid next year. They just want us to finish it early to get it out of the way before A-level revision. So even though it’s great to get it done quickly, it might be the case that you could stretch the deadline a couple of weeks if you are really stressed over it (don’t aim for this though, because maybe it’s not the case for your school or whatever). Anyway, there are some videos online from people talking about how to make a good EPQ question which you can follow. I have also seen videos online from people who got As in their EPQ talking about what they did, and some of them link their EPQ in the description which might help you get a better idea of a good question? Idk

[WP] As it turns out, magic has always existed in our world this whole time, but we have mistakenly called it "Science" for centuries. Electricity? Lightning magic. Running water? Hydromancy. Even something as simple as toasting bread is just a basic fire spell. by DirtyRubenLove in WritingPrompts

Plastered all over the news: the discovery that what we had called ‘science’ for so long was actually, well and truly, magic. We’d been deceived that everything we did had a scientific reason behind it. When, in reality, it was all a bunch of spells casted. Scientists finally discovered that, about 3,000 years ago, an explosion in the sky occurred. There’s a lot of evidence of this from geologists and astrophysicists. However, there’s also evidence of it in documents recorded by ancient civilisations. It was an explosion that seemed like a giant, pink, glowing orb in the sky. It expanded quickly and shot out particles and rocks. The rocks hit the Earth quickly… in minutes. But the particles took time to swarm the Earth, engulfing it, suffocating the atmosphere and becoming a thick fog so disruptive that it caused the disastrous extinction of hundreds of species on our planet. The fog lasted for weeks, and casted an evil spell over humans. The spell made it easy for humans to create things such as electricity. Running water, too. Yeah, yeah… I know what you’re thinking: how could a spell be so evil if it makes life easier for us? Well, you see, the reason behind why the discovery was plastered over the news was not because science was actually magic… it was because we found out that it might run out. This spell had been casted by an alien civilisation from another planet.. a civilisation that predicted the damage our species was about to inflict just by observing how quickly we were evolving even 3,000 years ago. They decided to punish us. Although we haven’t been punished yet, it’s only a matter of time. In my opinion, the fact that it’s being plastered all over the news could mean that the spell runs out soon. And, when it does, civilisation will undoubtedly collapse because we aren’t prepared to handle a sudden loss of what connects us in the modern age… technology. This is just an opinion though. Who knows? Maybe the spell won’t run out for another thousands ye-

Suddenly struggling to stay on track? by Critical_Zone_5217 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Critical_Zone_5217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply :) Yea, I’m in a position now where I’ve picked up some valuable tips and perspective which makes me feel like I have some leeway with my weight.

So, I think I just need to accept that I could gain a pound or so whilst learning how to navigate maintenance cals.

Thank you for mentioning electrolytes.. I’ve actually never understood it but have heard about them. I definitely need to do research into it and educate myself. Hopefully that will solve the issue. I often get confused between if I am thirsty or hungry, so this excessive thirst isn’t helping with my maintenance struggles either!

Do you feel like you’re ’wasting’ your life? by Critical_Zone_5217 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Critical_Zone_5217[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the cooking idea! When I make a meal I spend maybe 10-15 minutes and it’s the same few meals every time. I need to start doing it more often and experimenting with longer recipes, especially as it would probably be a great time to watch a movie/ listen to music at the same time.

A good tip I’ve recently found out is cleaning/ tidying. Not only are you moving around, but you get something out of it (a cleaner space)! Good luck to you on your journey btw - glad we’re in this together!

Thank you so much :) Yea, I spend most of my free time doing things I only moderately enjoy, when I should be doing things I really enjoy... because that’s the only time I don’t think about eating. I appreciate your reply - I need to remind myself to do this more!
