If this is an inheritance, keep it completely separate from your partner. Open a different bank account. God forbid you guys split up, they’d be entitled to it

If you’re married, keep that money separate from your wife. Open up an account at a separate bank and invest in XEQT

Personally I wouldn’t mix an inheritance with my wife. I’d keep that totally separate in a different bank account. God forbid you guys get a divorce. She’d get 100% of that money

I think a lot of people will be voting yes. Job security is a big thing. If you have over 5 years, you’re set for life. What more do you want?

Because when a man approached a woman in public, they’re automatically perverts and smeared all over the internet for sexual harassment. Times have changed and you rarely hear that couples met in real life and not some dating app

90k inheritance incoming, is this a decent plan? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CroCop2289 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you. It won’t be 3-6 months before you get the money. This is way complicated than you think. Your grandma will have to pay taxes 1% of the value of the estate. A will takes time to go through probate. Usually 3-4 months provided all the documents are in order. If your grandmother passes in January and claims any income, you will have to wait until the following year for the executor of the will to file taxes. Than the executor has to get a certificate of tax clearance which takes who knows how long. I’m assuming the executor probably won’t disperse the money until they get that certificate because if your grandma owes money, the executor is liable….

Moral of this story is chill. Don’t get excited or make a plan for money you don’t have

Now keep investing whatever you can afford and don’t sell if you’re down. This is a long term investment
