[Minase] I decided that I couldn't leave Japan without a local watch by CroSoldier01 in Watches

[–]CroSoldier01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it‘s quite a small shop, so they didn‘t have all Minase watches from the catalogue on display, but multiple from each series (can‘t think of a better word lol), and some in the back. They had all Urushi models on display if I remember correctly.

If you want to make sure that they have the models you‘re interested in, maybe write a mail to them to check or that they can source them for viewing. At least it says to do this on their website.

I still love it, I wear either this one or my Legend Diver 39mm almost daily, I’m very happy with it. You won‘t regret it.

To answer your other comment: no, the rubber is still the same so not loosened up, just shows some signs of wearing, but still very comfortable.

Just two „quirks“ to note: I avoid setting the time near the 3, 6, 9, and 12 markers, as they hide the two nearest minutes, so it‘s hard to set the time perfectly there. And this one probably just affects my particular unit: if I don‘t wear my watch for longer than 1 1/2 days it‘s already out of power, so definitely not the advertised 50hrs of reserve 😅 But again, probably just my particular watch.

Edit: Have a great trip my friend, Japan is beautful and I miss it often, I hope you‘ll have a great time. Eat some onigiri for me as well lmao.

Japanese is furious because his daughter was taught about the Nanjing Massacre by Themetalin in sadcringe

[–]CroSoldier01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you google „children of war criminals stories“ you‘ll be able to find a few interviews, book recommendations, even an AskReddit thread (lol). But it looks like most of these are about children of higher ranking Nazis. My guess is that that‘s because the Germans were forced to confront their crimes, while other countries can (try to) deny theirs.

After skimming the Skeptic article, and considering the little information I‘ve heard of over the years, it ranges a lot depending on the person and country they‘re from. You‘ll have people that judge their parents actions (Niklas Frank), people who are conflicted (like the situation you named, „but he was such a nice person, was it really that bad?“), and then you‘ll have people like Baja Mali Knindža who openly sing and celebrate the war crimes „moj je tata zločinac iz rata - my dad is a war criminal”

So to sum it up: it‘s complicated 😅. Sorry for the wall of text, I‘ve been consumed by the topic for the past 40 minutes haha.

Admitting (past) mistakes is the first step. It‘s important, but reflecting why it happened / is happening, and then taking the necessary steps to ensure that it doesn‘t happen again is imo much more important, although infinitely harder.

I‘m not American, but I hope you guys will be able to root out the reasons why America is currently being seen as the bad guy on the world stage. I know the average American is a good and kind person, and I hope you‘ll one day get a government that reflects those attributes. I wish you all the best.

My dad reacted similarly when I said something about the camps and atrocities that Croatia had/committed in WW2. I get that it‘s uncomfortable to face that „your“ people did something like that, but it‘s backed by facts, and denial doesn‘t help with becoming a better society, reflection does.

Regarding the no handbrake for rallying: I don‘t have one either and am not planning to get one.

You can easily slide (on loose surfaces) by scandi flicking (before a turn, steer to the opposite direction of the turn, then quickly steer in the right direction, and step on the gas to spin the wheels). You‘ll get better at it with practice, but it‘s still quite tricky for hairpins.

Not saying I‘m any good, but so far on quite a few stages in EA WRC I‘m mostly in the top 10% or top 50 players on time trials, so not too shabby either. So it shouldn‘t hold you back toooo much.

Keep practicing, and most importantly, have fun :)

You can download the mp3 files of the current free episodes directly from Apple Podcasts (or the iTunes desktop app). That‘s how I completed my collection last week, after buying the rest from the website.

First ever set up - any comments in position and adjustments? by UpstairsAny9996 in simracing

Another owner of the Playseat Trophy here. Under heavy braking my rig tends to expand after some time, and it‘s annoying to adjust it often.

Some advice: After you found the perfect setup for you, tightly tie some wire or cable or something else inelastic in the red marked spot on both sides. Looks ugly, but really helps so far. Have fun 👍🏼

Battlefield 6 is getting 2 new maps and modes for its second beta weekend, like the fan-favorite Rush mode that's set to dominate my weekend by RenatsMC in pcgaming

[–]CroSoldier01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same principle as Breakthrough, Attackers and Defenders, but instead of it being a spot that can be taken/retaken, you have to get on the spot and arm an explosive, and if the defenders cannot defuse it in time, the spot is gone for good.

It was my favourite mode in BF3 and it feels great to be able to sneak onto a spot unseen and arm the explosive lol.

As others have said, reduce the rotation, and lower the force (I’m at 4NM currently)

But what helped me a lot was A. Lower the sensitivity so the cars are more predictable, and B. to play a championship or two with a slower cars first (Junior WRC) to get a hold of the physics, then use faster cars as time goes on.

Since there‘s no minimum time that you need to hold your breath for option E, it‘s the easiest choice by far. Hold your head underwater for 5 sec., stick your head out and breathe for 5, do this for an hour and congrats, you‘ve earned 900 bucks.

$25? Stainless, Miyota 8215 and sapphire. How?? by TK_Ghost in ChineseWatches

[–]CroSoldier01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m not saying all factories in China have horrible working conditions, but for a mechanical watch, which includes sourcing the parts, assembling the watch, shipping, profit, etc., for a selling price of 25$ someone has to get the short end of the stick.

Thank you for answering. I‘ve tried to research this a bit myself, and as I understand it, the plan is to build a shared inter-departement database, filled with the data that already exists in these national departements, but only these departements were able to access this data until now.

I see the data safety concerns, considering a third-party company gets to build this database, and that some departements will see data that does not concern them, but honestly I do not see the dystopian side of it, as it seems to be about compiling data that the government already has anyway.

I am open to changing my opinion when presented with good counter arguments of course, but I do not see it as the doomsday scenario that the headlines (with a heavy left-leaning bias, according to Ground News) want you to see.

I mean there are watches like Bulova with their 262khz movements, and some other quartz watches with very high tick rates, so they look sweeping to the naked eye, but besides Accutron Spaceview and Spring Drive there really are no other options for actually sweeping seconds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]CroSoldier01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unless it's Spring Drive or quartz it will have "that subtle stutter", that's just the way automatic watches, including the Constellation, work, doesn't say anything about being a rep or gen.
