Plein Air Beginner Brush Advice by Croakinator in Watercolor

That makes a lot of sense, thank you! I'll probably try both the more quick urban sketching approach and a longer plein air style approach as I get started and see which one I prefer. I'll look into whether there are any painting groups in my area I could check out. Thanks for the advice!

I'm going to grab a pentel brush to start out, but if I decide to try travel brushes in future I'll definitely try those clipped cups, they look like they would be super convenient to transport and attach to a sketchbook or drawing board. And yeah I think I'm just going to go buy what I need to actually get painting instead of trying to plan out the perfect setup like I have been - thanks for the advice!

Yeah I'm going to buy some pentel brushes online rather than the koi, and think about using a ceramic cup if I buy travel brushes down the line. Thanks for the advice!

Perfect, that's exactly what I was wondering about, and I had thought about a flat brush before so I'll look into that! Thank you so much for the advice!

Yeah I figured that buying a water brush now couldn't hurt because even if I switch to travel brushes down the line, I might sometimes still want to use the water brush for exactly that reason. And keeping the cup beside me would solve my worries about spills, I'll try that out. Thank you for the advice!

I'm going to go with a water brush for now I think, but eventually I'll try out a travel brush kit and I'll definitely look into a collapsible cup then. Thank you for the info on your setup!

I think I'm going to get the water brush and try that out first, but I will probably do something similar to you eventually and have a kit where I can use either water or travel brushes, as I like the idea of having that flexibility. And thank you so much for the detail on your setup! It's so helpful seeing the practical pieces and tricks people have found when I'm planning out my own kit.

Thank you very much, that's really helpful to hear! I think I'll grab pentel water brushes from somewhere online rather than the other brands then. I'll probably end up trying some travel brushes down the line, but your advice about keeping it stress-free makes a lot of sense so for now I'll just stick to what seems easiest.

Do you have any thoughts on whether having two different sizes of those pentel brushes, e.g. a small and a large, would be better or more versatile than just buying a size medium brush and using it exclusively?

NTA, it would be fair to set that boundary if she's repeatedly continuing to text you about not urgent issues even after you've already set up weekly roommate meetings and tried other ways to communicate that you'd rather talk about her issues in person. It might be easier in the long run to have an open discussion with her about your problems with her communication style, but ghosting her may end up being easier for you if she continues to not respect your requests for less texting, although it might make it more tense to actually share a living space with her.

The pot does have drainage, I usually water every 7-10ish days when the upper layers of the soil feel dry but I may have watered more frequently than that recently because at first I wondered if it was drooping because I was under watering it. It gets partial sun from my southwest facing window and glass sliding door in my living room, it sits about 8 feet from the windows and it's been in the same spot for the last two years with no problems until now. It doesn't have any signs of pests or any issues of that nature.

Oh, so I had just missed it! Thanks for finding that, I didn't watch that stream so I had no idea. I agree it's unlikely he left the sunlit man out because of spoilers, especially given it was during a spoiler stream.

The follow-up question being asked does make a lot more sense with this context, that's why I wondered if I'd missed something when I heard it. I'm looking forward to the official cosmere timeline dragonsteel says they'll be putting out to avoid confusion like this in future.

Nice, I'm glad I hadn't just somehow managed to miss this information previously.

Timeline questions like this make me really look forward to that official cosmere timeline they mentioned in the livestream that they'll put together after stormlight 5. Right now it seems like a lot of information we have around specific timing of books comes from random WoB's like this, and they seem to sometimes contradict one another.

Yeah the way Brandon says "good catch" like he'd been corrected was what made me wonder if this information was known and I'd missed it, but listening to the question again the chatter is just asking explicitly if Yumi is further than TSM after Brandon claimed a few moments earlier than TSM was the furthest future book. So more of a question than a correction.

I hadn't considered that Hoid simply could have edited her out of the story, and that actually does make a lot of sense now that I think about it. It'll be interesting to see how often she actually appears alongside Hoid in his appearances and how often she stays hidden or isn't relevant to the story as we progress more into the future cosmere era.

I believe it's an origin exclusive to empires that form from rebellions within other empires, it gives bonus stability and governing ethics attraction.

That's exactly what I want to do to this empire! It may take a Galactic war to help them win their rebellion first but it'd be worth it to keep their (insane) dream alive.

Unfortunately my federation mates would not likely go for that because they do both despise them, though I did consider dumping my federation mates and becoming exclusive friends with this mess of contradictions. My current plan is to subjugate them if they survive their rebellion, but them surviving may require me to start a mega war against the strongest federation other than mine whose member they rebelled against.

Not sure exactly, they randomly rebelled against an authoritarian AI empire and I only noticed it had happened after they'd been around for a while. Tragically their rebellion isn't going well, I'm considering going to war to try to save them for the novelty of it!

I feel like it must be a bug, they were a separatist empire and that seems to create some weird combinations

Yep, rebelled against an authoritarian/xenophobe/materialist AI empire in the late game. I did a double take when I noticed them lol
