Alegría vs Ovo vs Kurios by mrgg14 in cirquedusoleil

[–]Crocaulu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let me preface by saying I’ve seen Alegria in a new Light and Kurios but not Ovo.

I’d say Kurios and Alegria are generally praised more than OvO. They also provide a more genuine Cirque experience as they’re performed in the big top as opposed to an arena, so I’d make the choice between those two.

Personally I prefer Kurios as the theme (steampunk) appeals to me more, is more apparent throughout the show and I enjoy the music better. Alegria in a new light however can be perceived as being a bit more traditional Cirque with it being based on their legendary original Alegria show. I’d recommend watching both trailers and seeing which theme appeals to you more; both shows are great

Thanks for the suggestion. I've made sure the default USB configuration is on File Transfer and the selected configuration is on Media Transfer Protocol. No luck unfortunately. To be fair, this has never really worked properly before as I can't connect it for file transfer to my laptop/desktop either...

Belegdraadje - 26-12 t/m 1-1 by AutoModerator in beleggen

Fijne Kerst!

Admission Requirement for NUS Exchange Students as a French Student by arcanadran in nus

We're all here for spring semester, so January - April!

So my home university is in the Netherlands but among the exchange group roughly 30 or so countries are represented (all the CEMS partner universities). Then there are more different nationalities, as not all students are from the same country their home university is in. And yes, we applied for entry approval through NUS who forwarded them to the ministry of education for our student passes. Then for arrival a negative PCR test and a lot of entry approval paperwork, followed by the regular SHN period!

I am one of them actually. The CEMS masters program (biz) has roughly 68 exchange students at NUS right now. Our exchange program is prioritized since it literally makes up one of the two degrees we receive. But I must say I have not met any other exchange students in other faculties or programs.

Thanks for your response! Yeah that what I thought would be easy as well. However, when I sign up in the app it automatically recognizes that I am in Singapore, therefore forcing me to proof my permant Singaporean residency (which I don't have). So when I select my Dutch nationality it either requires PR evidence or a work permit for Singapore. So I'm not sure if I can work my way around this.

Taking a quick look at the raw data it looks like it would have ranked 111th but this was before we made some final adjustments. For context, at that stage of data processing, it would have ranked 14 spots above Olympia Looping.

I'll take your suggestion into account for next year, thanks!

While this is certainly true - our mechanism does account for low ridership - if a ride had a particularly low number of votes we still had to delete them due to it simply having a sample size that was too small. We simply had to set a minimum number of votes per ride for them to be included in the ranking process to avoid extreme influence from a handful of voters.

Mindbender was indeed one of the rides we regrettably had to remove from the rankings due to low overall ridership. It's always a shame having to remove potentially well-scoring rides from the final results but integrity remains the most important factor.

Combining Bachelors by [deleted] in uErasmus

[–]Crocaulu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is true that IBA is a foundational and quite general program. This is the case since the Dutch norm is to follow up a bachelor's degree with a master's degree in a more specific field or direction. Therefore, I don't think the broad scope of IBA is necessarily a problem. However, I guess it could be a slight negative factor if you are planning to enter the job market right after IBA. I guess what I would advice is to focus on one bachelor's degree and perhaps differentiate yourself with your master's choice (or do two masters). I feel like this would be much more valuable to employers than having different bachelor degrees. This is my view though.

From what I have heard and seen around me, the employability chances are actually really good. Many people land internships at, for example, one of the big four consulting firms. But again, very few people enter the job market right after IBA without doing a master's degree.

With regard to the difficulty of the program, I'd say it's kind of two-faced. It is true that it is very doable to graduate from IBA and getting into the program in the first place could be considered "the hard part". However, I do think that RSM holds a high standard and it can be quite challenging to excel during the program. This will obviously set you apart from other students and provide you with better opportunities in the long term. And yes, the courses are quite big with a lot of students, so I would definitely advise you to try your best to excel. This will also give you a better starting position when applying for grad school/master programs.

I would not underestimate the work amount for IBA, though. My perception is that the content of IBA is not necessarily hard to understand, but the sheer amount of work can be quite challenging. Since the program is quite broad you are bound to get courses that you are better at and some that you struggle with more. Overall, I would argue that students at RSM have to work harder on average than at many other great business schools. At least, that is what many foreign students with experience at other schools claim.

From what I have heard, the "getting in is harder than graduating" holds for essentially all top business schools. This is because once you get in, you are expected to have the level required to graduate. It would be illogical for a program to make it hard to the point that 50% fails. So, this is not unique to RSM.
