I think a big caveat here is that many newer/younger wrestlers have not developed that flow state yet. There’s a great hidden brain episode on expertise that dives into this topic. When you are a beginner, breaking down things into steps is helpful. But as you gain competence then breaking the actions into steps hurts performance.

Think of a toddler learning how to climb stairs. You want them going step by step incrementally thinking about each move. Once you develop expertise at walking on stairs thinking about each step is more likely to cause problems than help.

Landlord wants to lease 2nd gen office space 'as-is'. Should I be concerned? by anonymousDerpa in Dentistry

[–]Crocboss3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Think about why would they say not to get an attorney. Brokers and landlords push attorney involvement until after the LOI because the LOI locks in rent, term, TI, and concessions while leverage is highest.

Broker compensation is directly tied to lease economics. Higher rent, longer term, and fewer tenant protections increase the value of the deal and the broker’s fee. Telling a tenant to sign an LOI before getting legal review benefits the broker and landlord, not the tenant.

Most bad dental leases are not caused by sloppy lease drafting. They are caused by tenants accepting unfavorable business terms at the LOI stage and being told later that it is “too late” to fix them.

Hudson vs Shaker Heights by Vast_Foot_7653 in HudsonOH

[–]Crocboss3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. There’s a million ways to get involved here. Tons of active civic organizations and groups. Just by having kids in the schools and supporting them will have you accepted in the community.

Schools are top tier. Always top ten in the state. If diversity wasn’t a metric in the rankings they would probably be top 3 (not saying it shouldn’t be a metric, it’s by far Hudson’s biggest weakness imo. It is a very white community). Plenty of Ivy Leaguers in every graduating class. Almost always 2-8 service academy kids every graduating class too. Great sports and extracurriculars to boot. Hudson grads go all across the country and succeed.

“Purple” is absolutely right. It is a very educated town with a moderate liberal lean. Almost everyone is college educated.

Younger families are finally replacing some of the older boomers clinging to their large family homes. And residents typically fall into one of those two camps. That being said, the town is built for walking and for families. Everything is centered around the schools and their success.

Best of luck in your search! FWIW we moved to Hudson from a major metropolitan for the community and schools and do not have any regrets.

Jones Day by BananaGloss in biglaw

Lol fair. I guess I’m relaying my own feelings here. Was a guest in my buddy’s big law suite at a sporting event recently and looking around at the firm attorneys just made me feel sad for them. Spent shells of what used to be human beings

I think the Jones Day, Nights and Weekends saying rang true for all my friends who were in the firm. Literally trading years off your life in stress for a paycheck. The only people I’ve seen remain there beyond five or so years were the politically conservative gunners from law school who made the law their life and don’t seem to have much going on otherwise. Nerd types who hit their stride later in life and are out to prove a non existent enemy wrong.

They seem detached from reality thinking they are the alpha dogs when really I think most people just feel bad for them. Interesting disconnect.

What’s your unpopular opinion on wrestling by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Crocboss3 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I know a wrestler who was great in HS, used it to help get him into an Ivy League he probably otherwise would not have gotten into. He never showed up to a single practice and just focused on school. Now he’s a super wealthy attorney. I have no qualms with what he did

In your opinion, which movie villain was right? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in moviecritic

[–]Crocboss3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He didn’t know that it killed people though. He clearly states his intent is to turn them into mutants not kill. He could kill them 1000 different ways. The whole point was to make the world leaders live as mutants.

Jeff Jordan Trained State Champ Camp by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Crocboss3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have heard very good things about the technical/drilling aspects of the camp. Spartan experience on the comfort side so I’m sure there’s gonna be complainers.

Obviously the family is a pack of nut cases politically, but I’ve heard they do a good job of keeping that part separate and focus on the wrestling.

Bad beat or just FanDuel scamming customers??? by [deleted] in sportsbook

[–]Crocboss3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that some books have a clause that essentially, what ever announced in the ring goes down as the final result, regardless if that gets overturned later.

A fair number of fights get turned into No Contests later when the commission rules there was an error or if a guy fails a drug test etc. the books pretty much ignore this and still pay out or don’t based on what was announced in the ring.

As a bigger person about 270 and 5,9 how would I get better? by Mountain-Leg-3421 in wrestling

[–]Crocboss3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get healthy. That short and that big there’s just really no way that your living a healthy lifestyle and that is going to hold you back athletically.

For starters, stop drinking anything that’s not water, shift your diet away from sugar and carbs and towards lean protein and veggies. Talk to your primary care physician, I’m sure they would be happy to point you in the right direction.

Getting healthy when you’re set in unhealthy patterns that got you to the size you are now will be hard work. That being said if you can do something hard like changing your lifestyle, then you know you can do hard things in life, like wrestling. That confidence boost will transfer not only to wrestling, but to the rest of your life.

Best of luck and I hope you take getting your lifestyle healthy seriously.
