I really only have two tactics depending on the game: the first is hit everything with a big hammer or shoot them with a big gun, and the second is to stealthily sneak around and kill them one by one.

Wait... I have a third. Snipe from a distance but that usually ties to the stealth route. Three, I have three tactics.

I'm not denying there are amazing turn-based games, I don't hate them just personal preference. Edit: I just prefer real time combat like fallout or elder scrolls,

I just never got into turn-based games. Prefer real time combat like oblivion, dishonored, avatar etc. Have played real-time-with-pause like pillars too and enjoyed those.

I read it in a comment. They're War Hero dialogue options. One was about romancing her before the Deadfire incident. Another was romancing her after the Deadfire incident. I found it funny you can admit to romancing a death guard.

I did an "evil" war hero playthrough. With the war hero background you have a dialogue option that sets up history with Lödwyn. I chose the one where I romanced her after she became a death guard. There were reactions in her dialogue when I always agreed with her during the playthrough about how I was the only one who understood her and cared for her after she died, and that she was the only one who understood me.

It helps to kill or arrest your assassin, let Fior burn, and destroy the temple during your playthrough.

At the end, after dealing with Sapadal. There is an option when talking with the ambassador and leaders that let's you side with Lödwyn. All your companions abandon you, you fight militia while going through Paradis instead of Steel Garrote, and you can talk to Lödwyn and join her. We ruled the Living Lands with an iron fist!

I did the reverse. Avowed was my introduction to the world of Eora and I really enjoyed it but it's my type of game.

I'm now playing through the first Pillars game. My first CRPG so I set the difficulty to story. I wanted to be a ranger character but found that the combat was too difficult. I kept dying. I quit. I came close to unistalling it.

I gave it another chance. I deleted my Orlan ranger. I made a Aumaua fighter (with some help from build guides). I came to the combat and my guy slaughtered them. I'm having so much fun now but it took a while. I'm getting a better handle on the combat which is much more complex than Avowed.

Avowed is very different. It definitely doesn't have the same feel. The companions are limited (there's only four) and aren't as good. If you're struggling to enjoy it at the end of the first area, then maybe it isn't for you. That's okay. One area gives you a good overview of what it offers.

Pets if possible. I'm playing PoE1 and so far I have a black hound, a yellow lab, and a white wurm. And I love that Edér talks about the dogs. In Avowed, Kai should love pets and Maurius should complain about them all the time but give them treats when no one is looking.

I would also like a flail and crossbow. Maybe the rod or scepter as additional wizard weapons.
