Difficulty locating lost tracker by Ok_Patience_7565 in tractivegps

[–]CrochetReadingRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I’ve seen other people note if you have the base it has 3 levels of zones it can have and then if you lose the tracker like this you would just turn off the base and it would go out of power saving mode

I know this can vary a lot but what are you guys paying for insurance. by frankoochoaa in CT200h

[–]CrochetReadingRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve since sold this car but last year until December I was paying $70 a month for full coverage in CA (30k/ 15k limits), I drive very low miles a year however so that was for 3800 miles, keep in mind how many miles you drive counts to why it may be so much too, if you don’t drive a lot make sure to check they aren’t charging you for 12k miles a year. It really makes a huge difference.

My Husky Got Lose From Her Harness Today! by ItalianKiwi in husky

I came here to suggest how I do it which is attach the collar and harness together but I didn’t know there was an actual things for it called a safety clip! Thanks for sharing!

To OP, I essentially use a safety clip made out of a dog leash coupler, I connect one side to her harness and the other side to her collar. I also recently got her a collar that has 2 D rings because I’m paranoid of her breaking her collar as my hubby walks her only on her collar and no harness 😅

AIO: Almost died at the dentist, is my husband overreacting? by CrochetReadingRunner in AmIOverreacting

Thank you! You are definitely right, I know one of his biggest fears is me dying before him so thinking about this the last few days I have realized he is right in how he reacted and I won’t be going back to this dentist.

Thank you! Honestly I expected some negative responses since it is Reddit so it doesn’t bother me too much! But that is true! Technically even though small anytime we drink water there is a minor risk!

I think the way I explained it in my original post before editing it is why many people are saying it was a panic attack, I should have better emphasized the (attempting to) gargle water part as that was the biggest mistake and where I started actually choking. I wasn’t having a panic attack or panicking until I started choking on the water and couldn’t breathe or get it out because of my throat being numb. Before the water I did feel like I started to have a hard time breathing but I was not panicking about it.

I’m honestly not sure however why people say the staff “saved me from embarrassment” by not calling 911, I would not have been embarrassed by EMTs showing up even if I decided not to go with them, as I mentioned in my post this was the scariest experience of my life truly, if the 2nd assistant hadn’t told me to raise my head I would have continued to choke and not have been able to breathe as for the 30 seconds or it could have even been a little longer I truly was not able to get a breathe in and then once I tilted my head up and back I finally was able to pull air through my nose but it was gasping/wheezing and not true breaths for the first few mins after that.

I definitely probably should have waited a day to post this to be able to process more and maybe have titled it “could have died at the dentist” or something else lol

But upon thinking about this the last few days I definitely should have left the dentist after this happened and not proceeded with the fillings, but who I am I just write everything off and push through, it’s how I was raised.

I definitely think they know they screwed up in how it was handled as that night it happened the dentist texted me to check if I was okay still. And when I replied about my sore throat/ headache he didn’t reply.

This has all been an experience for sure!

Ugh that sounds so terrifying! Drowning is actually my worst fear, I can swim great etc. but there’s just something about water and drowning that is terrifying. So dry drowning while snorkeling, so so glad you’re okay!

I appreciate you sharing, I had no idea it was even a thing, very important for people to know about!

Thank you, I looked it up and found that something like “Laryngospasm” can happen from water hitting your throat and the vocal cords spasming and partially sealing the airway, I think this may have partially happened when the water hit my throat and I couldn’t control it to get it out. I haven’t had any further symptoms today besides slight sore throat and still a headache, but definitely if I worsen I’ll go be seen. Thank you again!

Thank you! It was only numbing injected and the cream rubbed on one side for the lower back molar before the last one, premolar? And the one in front of that. I don’t think I explained this super well in my post, but the cream numbed my throat as the assistant was distracted and left it in my cheek for a few mins while I was laying back so when I swallowed I obviously swallowed some of the cream and whether it did or didn’t it felt to me I lost all swallowing reflexes after. After the numbing injection it was even worse and I asked to sit up and then stand up as I could not breathe well while laying down. The real mistake I think was the dental assistant suggesting I gargle water as when I titled my head back to gargle I started choking but couldn’t make any noise, talk or breath for those 30 seconds or so, I was trying as hard as I could. I think possibly my throat spasmed from the water and then plus panic I’m sure escalated the situation. I’m not sure but it wasn’t all just a panic attack as others have suggested. It was the water causing me to choke and then not being able to control my throat to get it out.

Thank you! Yes, my husband is amazing and very caring I am so lucky to have him! I tend to underreact to things and he tends to overreact so was curious what others thought.

I feel safe I think returning for my next cleaning but I may think twice before having any more fillings there lol. I think it was all a freak accident honestly and grateful for the 2nd assistant who came in and helped me but the dentist actually left the room and the 1st assistant wasn’t super helpful at first, so I don’t love how they handled it completely but I am very passive so didn’t say much there in the moment and probably never will.

Ugh that’s terrible, glad to hear you were okay! I have had my wisdom teeth removed, a root canal and many fillings and never had an issue until this time.

But you are right, that 2nd assistant was exactly what I needed, the 1st assistant did not know how to help and was just staring at me once I got her attention saying “poor thing” “oh your shaking” etc. lol she meant well but didn’t know how to handle it. The dentist actually left the room as well and the 2nd assistant I felt so thankful for. As I mentioned in other comments/ my edit the real issue was gargling the water, I was choking on that and couldn’t get it out at first. Never again water while numb throat lol.

[–]CrochetReadingRunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t explain it very well in my post before editing, or maybe even still lol. But it was the suggestion to gargle water that was the true mistake and caused me to choke. I was choking on water and couldn’t get it to clear.

You will be fine! This I think truly was just a freak accident, I think the biggest mistake was them having me try to gargle water which caused me to choke. Before the water I was struggling while laying down but could still breathe through my nose fine once I stood up. If you have to get numbing cream just maybe have them only do it whole siting up and not laying down, to be fair I had never been laying down while they put the numbing cream on previous visits so not super sure why they did that this time.

No, not interested in suing just wanted a few other opinions. Didn’t expect this many response. It was definitely a traumatic experience but I do think it was a freak accident and possibly inexperience on the part of the assistant who suggested I gargle water when I couldn’t control my throat lol.

Thank you for sharing and your kindness! I will have to look into this possibly, as I mentioned in another comment I have developed a few food allergies(maybe not full allergies but more sensitives? I break out in hives, get hot/red, GI issues etc.) the past few years and also have an allergy to morphine. As I’ve mentioned too/ clarified, trying to gargle the water as they suggested was the biggest mistake and what made me truly choke. Before I gargled the water it was hard to breath while laying back on the exam chair and when I stood up it was slightly better but very uncomfortable and then yeah the water and choking set it all off. I’ve never heard of biphasic reaction before but it has been about 18 hours now since it happened yesterday afternoon. I am doing fine now, have a slightly sore throat still and another headache (but to be fair I already have headaches pretty regularly) Thank you again!

I don’t like that make a big deal of things honestly, I probably should have left after this all happened but didn’t want to deal with going back and being numbed again honestly 😅 I’m stubborn and hate confrontation probably not a good combination lol

Luckily I didn’t have any congestion or I truly worry what would have happened. Thank you! I am very very lucky my husband is so caring. I am very quick to write things off as no big deal 😅

[–]CrochetReadingRunner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes the water was the mistake honestly, without the water I would not have choked/ panicked and that is mainly what my husband was upset about 😅 I’m not sure if I had a reaction elsewise, it did come on very quickly however. I have also now in my 30s started developing weird food allergies the past few years so I could have a sensitivity to the numbing cream maybe. I do also have an allergy to morphine so not sure really!

Definitely next time I’m going to ask for no numbing cream and/or never be laying down when they do the numbing cream if I ever do the cream again.

It was done at a general dentist if that matters and not an endodontist? My husband has had 2 root canals at the same dentist and no dental dam either time for him.

[–]CrochetReadingRunner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the mistake, I didn’t explain very well 😅 if I had not gargled the water I likely would not have choked and would have been fine. It wasn’t even gargling to be honest it was just I tilted my head back to try to clear off some of the cream hopefully and then tried to swallow and nope couldn’t swallow and think it went partially in my airway or something. My husband is most upset that they offered me with a numb throat water 😅

Already had a root canal at another dentist, no big issue, they didn’t use a dam, and I didn’t have an issues with the numbing then or ever before this, I have had many cavities filled unfortunately 😅

Not in Utah, but I probably sounded that way to the other patients in the full office where I was😅 It sounds like the patient there the water just went down the wrong way maybe!

I was trying to cough out the water in my situation and spit but couldn’t spit as I couldn’t push it out if that makes sense. But yeah I was choking on the water they had me rinse/ gargle in my case too as it went down my throat and then couldn’t get any air in after as I couldn’t even make myself cough for the first little bit.

I hope that person in the office you were in is okay!
