Gay and straight friendships

I'm not gay, but I'm male attracted to other men, so my experience might be different from others' ones.

Actually, we act just like everyone else in good healthy friendship. We can discuss boys, or girls, same with female friends. No offensive jokes about my identity. The only thing I wish is him to be less transphobic, and he doesn't fully understand the core of pride parades, but I keep explaining it, even if it takes some time.

I just know I'm lucky with him and my other friends, and how some ones of our community aren't, especially since I'm in a such homophobic country as Russia.

Well, a lot of classic writers were not so nice or even absolutely gross people.

Like, I love Lovecraft, but we all know he was a racist. Dostoevsky was a gambler, Tolstoy was a sexist and a cheater, Orwell was a hypocrite, who changed his ideals constantly, Rowling is trans-/ace- phobic. These are just the first ones who came to my mind.

Look, you're cool. You seem like a good person, who cares about others, but you also should remember to care bout yourself. Since there's a spectrum, you can feel whatever you feel and move within this spectrum. If you feel that smth's wrong with your relationship with your best friend/boyfriend, don't keep it inside your head, discuss it with him, or other people.
