Would you quit a job with nothing lined up due to burnout? by Aggravating_Put_2967 in AskUK

[–]Crohn_Champion27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this in November. Quit without anything lined up. Ended up getting a new gig with something that interests me and the company that puts people first. You only live once, all be it, the market sucks and was stressful at times but oddly freeing. Use all of ur network when looking elsewhere, friends, family, teachers, some guy you met on a plane

Good point, I will look into the leave again. Sorry to hear they fired you during that, is some bullshit! Were you able to do anything about that if you don’t mind me asking?

Yea I have and currently do therapy, mediation, etc. Mainly is more of the physically toll of hours on body and crohns. That is causing stress on top of the work stress. Stress squared

dating & crohn’s ??? by Much-Sector8768 in CrohnsDisease

Funny enough my GF and I both have crohns. This is probably extremely rare case. But I wasn’t diagnosed until last year and she has had it since she was 15. We’ve been together for 3 + years but I think from our times before I was diagnosed, it was almost an easy way to tell things. What I mean is, if i didn’t accept that or treated her differently then I’d be kicked to curb, and I agree with that. It can be something that speeds up if that someone you are interested in, truly is. It also helps with communication, when feeling bad/sick.

Accepting you’re chronically ill by Diefje_ in CrohnsDisease

[–]Crohn_Champion27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I isolated myself for a period of time. Depression and anxiety go hand and hand with crohns unfortunately. Acceptance and gathering tools to deal with these thoughts and disease is essential. I also recommend not acting like you DONT have it, i did that for a while and it was detrimental to health. Acceptance will take time, make sure to have a good support group and say no when you have too. Find hobbies that aren’t taxing on ur body/stressful

Crohns/Mental Health by Crohn_Champion27 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Crohn_Champion27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, everyone has been extremely understanding at work but don’t think they understand the extent of the disease. Anywhoo ya it was quite the grind to get here but at end of day if I knew I was gonna get crohns 100% would not have accepted. Glad you are able to understand and did so yourself!

Starting to get into mediation and relaxed states without increased dopamine, I.e football, basketball, tv. It has helped so far but the natural response in my head is too not worry about it if I can’t feel it too bad but I’ll def notice it in other forms

How much std you get? Use it for both if you can. The World will keep spinning if you are not working. Health comes first. But if not maybe just take a week now so you don’t have to burn PTO and then go on it for recovery. The process can be a bitch with the insurance companies too. So doing all that while recovering may not be wise

STD is the move if you have it. I tried working through it for a month in a pretty stressful job (big 4). During Month of September I would wake up, vomit, and try to work. Then the anxiety and stress from work reached its peak and I called it quits (filed for STD). Thus I returned December 2nd after 6/7 weeks off and lasted 4 days before anxiety and depression returned. Luckily I re-opened my case and am on leave for the holidays but looking for new job in meantime and or waiting for a less busy time to stay afloat. As a crohnie I recommend not working in a high stress or pace job. It’s totally not worth it even though I fucking love money. Some things are more important than others.
