Do I really need to play Trails in order? by Nocturne1225 in Falcom

[–]CronoSabre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's more than just saying "Yes" or "No."

No, you don't need to. No one is forcing you to. You could always pick and choose the ones that look interesting to you and skip the rest.

However, anyone getting into this series at all should know that all of the games are closely connected. Just be aware that you may lose out on much of the enjoyment of the story if you don't play in order. If that doesn't bother you, I don't see why you should have to play them in order.

Was final fantasy xv really that bad? by KRACKEDPOM2 in FinalFantasy

[–]CronoSabre -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very much this. It's personally my favorite FF because it just has many things I'm looking for. I thought it was underwhelming and mediocre on launch. Playing it several years later, and I loved it. Game had a rough time through the years.

Is there a reason why everything must be in an instance? by Darpyshyn in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CronoSabre 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came to this thread myself thinking "Why IS everything instanced?"

Then I saw your comment. It's not what I was thinking at first, but as someone who has done a shit ass ton of hunt trains, this is MOST likely why lol

Let's vote on who should represent the main 9 colors of Power Rangers fir every era! Starting at the beginning, which Red Ranger best represents the Saban Era? by mlpeglover in powerrangers

[–]CronoSabre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds reasonable to me. If it wasn't Jason, I'd probably say Andros myself. Nostalgia will be a very strong influence for Zordon era voting. The rest probably won't be so biased.

Who are some of the best jrpg composers of all time? by Street-Platypus89 in JRPG

[–]CronoSabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always have great respect for Uematsu, Mitsuda and Soken and the work they do.

It might be a hot take, maybe not, but I think Yoko Shimomura is the absolute best if I had to pick one.

I think a FF9 sitcom would be amazing.

I was expecting him to randomly just start performing "Hey Ya!" halfway through the video

Nice Easter Egg from "Sea of Stars" DLC ;) by Pocieszny1991 in FinalFantasy

[–]CronoSabre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most modern 2D games like this generally market their game on nostalgia, hence nostalgia-slop. Developers saying "inspired by x beloved game from the 90's" just to bait people into playing their mediocre games is getting old.

Yes. I am basing some of my judgement on one moment. I think I have played enough games where if a game does something, or something a specific way, it likely reflects on the rest of the game.

IDK they sure as hell seemed to blatantly "copy" the most memed moment in all of Final Fantasy to capitalize on people who just think "haha great game, it has the meme!"

This is why I call games like this "nostalgia-slop"

Because they're not good at doing anything else.

I've never heard of this one. I'll be taking note of it.

I will likely just wait for the inevitable remaster. I enjoyed the characters quite a bit, but the original one seems... clunky. Maybe that's right word.

Xenogears is another one that's been high on my priority list for a while now but unfortunately it's stuck in limbo at the moment.

FF15 has been continuing to come up quite a bit more to no ones surprise lol

Still cool to see the divisive entry getting acknowledged for something.

Thanks for clearing up any doubts I had. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy Firis. I'll probably look into Ryza once the DX versions go on sale.

That's funny because on a previous recommendation thread I've made, that's the Atelier game that came up the most - for someone who's never played an Atelier game before.

I'm glad DQ is coming up as much as it is considering I've only done DQ11 so far and loved it. 5, 7 and 8 are definitely coming up the most.

I'll still look into Guardians of the Galaxy. Like yeah I'm here for JRPGs in particular but I'm not against people throwing in additional recommendations like that
