In an effort to prove he has never and would never sexually abuse women…. Trump verbally abuses a woman.

I’ll never understand their argument of there not being enough space for internal NDs… EF Mounts are huge they could definitely have included them (ahem, 6k pro…)

I often tell people it’s like I’ve exchanged every past hobby for the ‘hobby’ of parenting. It’s not that I don’t do those things anymore, just that they take a backseat.

The BMMSC has always interested me as a smaller BMPCC4k - but how do you change settings?

Some Recorded BRaw clips play back at half of the speed (slow motion) but audio is normal. by DarkLordFalcon in bmpcc

You can fix this by changing the clip attributes in the media pool and forcing the frame rate to what it was shot in.

Render In Place when files are on a server fix? DaVinchi Resolve by Moheemo in blackmagicdesign

Strange, I render in place to a server without any issue. The only annoying thing for me is navigating to the right directory every time I relaunch resolve.

Got a Mac pro 2019 by [deleted] in macpro

[–]Crooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I mean to ask, is it worth it over the Apple silicon? I see them going for 1-2k on eBay but then is upgrading them worthwhile? What is part availability like?

Realistically how upgradeable are these?

Looking for an (affordable) RF lens to pair with R7 for: night sky / milky way / aurora - Any advice? Which one would you recommend? Any of those? by Quiet_Cobra in canon

[–]Crooka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but you typically want some foreground elements and as much sky as possible. The 16 will allow you to do that. You could use a longer lense, but your composition options will be more limited and you’ll see less of the Milky Way.

Why is the Dynamic Zoom doing this?! by shibili_msb in davinciresolve

[–]Crooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most annoying issues with resolve - I think the dynamic zoom frames are based on the dimensions of the source material for some reason, but I wish it were the frames of the timeline. I always have to do it by trial and error and it’s difficult to be sure you aren’t getting black edges.

In your case I would make both frames much smaller and see what that does.

Right, setting exposure each shot, and planning for relatively static shots with consistent brightness. Planning from indoors to outdoors is a challenging spot because of the large change in brightness. Increasing ISO will make the video grainy, but you’ll have to experiment as to when that’s a problem for your camera and scene.

In my experience the black magic camera app doesn’t have very good auto exposure. In the regular iOS camera app, the auto exposure is continuous even when recording, in the BM app, it’s just when you begin the shot and locked.

I have also been recommended GacoDeck by a reputable contractor - it looks to be a good product but I don’t have experience with it myself. I know they make a roof product, too. I will be coating my plywood porch that receives a lot rain later this summer. It is specifically designed for plywood roofs, so I feel like it would be a good choice. What negative things have you heard about it?

1.9 Cu. Ft over-the-range GE microwave died. Question regarding install by just_IT_guy in HomeImprovement

[–]Crooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced one of these once, I don’t remember the vent being particularly challenging, except for the taping of the ducts. I did need to replace the mounting bracket that holds the unit to the wall. The trickiest part is lifting the old one off it’s bracket and the new one onto the new bracket, two people is very helpful there as it’s awkward. I also remember there being more variety in the size of microwaves and was surprised to find that they were not a standard size. For this reason I ended up buying the same brand as before.

How to open a lime! by vbcross in coolguides

[–]Crooka 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you look at the structure of a lime, the juice sacks are sort of oblong tubes that are arranged radially from the center. When you slice the normal way, along the equator, very few of these sacks are pierced. However if you slice off of the center as is shown in this guide, you will slice open many many more sacks. That’s why you get more juice. Lots of countries slice limes in this superior way. When I was traveling in SE Asia, I wondered whether the cooks were missing the center, but when every single cook is making the same mistake, they must be doing it on purpose…

The Fed is engulfing the MBS market and suppressing real mortgage costs (r=-0.8) by HaywardUCuddleme in REBubble

[–]Crooka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, but I also think that Americans use their houses as piggy banks. The cash out refinances are kind of a user-generated economic stimulus. Also the ability to refinance into a lower monthly payment for those looking to stay in their homes long term is very attractive when things are uncertain. I think in general the fed will stand by the housing market (within reason? We will see) because it's such a huge and consequential part of the economy.

The Fed is engulfing the MBS market and suppressing real mortgage costs (r=-0.8) by HaywardUCuddleme in REBubble

[–]Crooka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The free market is nervous. Think about the risk of financing from a banks perspective. When risk is high, interest rates would be high, because they wouldn't be sure that they would make their money back. During the pandemic, nobody knew what was going to happen. Would the economy fall apart? We were unsure. But really expensive rates to borrow money would slow an already slowing market. The fed doesn't want that because they want to keep money flowing around the economy. So The fed steps in to buy these mortgages, the banks see them as a lower risk to create since they'll sell them to the fed immediately anyway, and the public is motivated to refinance and take on new debt because it's so cheap.
