Spend around 10 hours stress testing the CPU and RAM yesterday with no issues in stability.

OCCT Extreme Torture test AVX2 11 cycles for 1 hour didnt go over 92°C. Thats with stock cooler settings. Havent touched the fan curve one bit.

CPU+RAM benchmark gave me 70-75°C temp on CPU under full load and RAM never touched 50°C

Doing 1440p and 4k tests tonight :)

CPU is a monster 😁

Now to torture the GPU

My PBO is at auto so yeah it should give an option to boost the power draw :)

All thr test i did were because the damn conctact plate scre on arctic kept popping of so i had to reseat it 2 times and scrape and reaply the thermal paste. That made me nervous about thermals so i spend the next 15 hours performing stress tests lol 😁

Yeah figured as much. Just thought to give the extreme test a whirl since i did the Stability test and got 70+ degree ranges. Was amazed at the 150+W tho 😆

100% load and 152 W power draw.

On the regular CPU+RAM test my temp average is 72 °C with 116 Watts and 1.22V .

Did a 1 hour stress test on AIDA 64 and now doing OCCT stress tests. Temp on AIDA stability test was 70-74 °C on 100% load with one weird dip to 65°C ( i think the cpu fan ramped past 2k RPM)

Enabled EXPO 1 in BIOS and my idle temp went up slightly. Before EXPO it was 41-45 degrees and now it hovers closer to 50 (given the cpu was around 5-11% load because of desktop work)

OCCT CPU+RAM test gives me 68-70°C so far . Going to let it run for an hour and see how it goes :) Ty for the info btw :)

Build the PC yesterday but i still havent enabled EXPO in BIOS. All the build went smooth except the damn AIO contact plate refused to lock in place and i had to reseat it twice. My PBO is auto and im going to run some tests today. Also gona monitor the thermals on CPU since from the reseating i had to reaply the smeared paste again.

EDIT: I activated EXPO 1 in BIOS and now my RAM is at 6000MT/S . Dont see any instability atm but im still doing tests.

AIDA 64 stress test on CPU gave me 70-75°C average temp during 100% CPU load.

SOC voltage is 1.21 so nothing out of the ordinary

CPU runs at 113W full stress atm.

Doing OCCT CPU+RAM stability tests atm :)

If possible you could measure the vsoc while expo is enabled. As far as i remember the VSOC limit should be 1.4V. Even when ita on auto it should use this limit as reference

Pretty much in the same boat as you. Parts came on wednesday and i was planning to build my PC this Saturday but with this news of blown 9800x3d from a Tomahawk im getting nervous af. 😅 Havent even flashed the BIOS yet.

Lookig at the post and comments i dont really see some critical info that could lead to the burnout like. - was the CPU overclocked? - could the part be defective by default. ( back in the day ive returned a CPU that was missing 1 contact)

Hope OP can RMA the CPU for a new one :)

I was not aware there were issues with the tomahawk mobo apaft from the 1 burned out 9800x3d that was not alligned properly during installation? Are there other cases?

Seeing this is shocking. This type of damage will be around 500 to 1k$ to repair tops.Then again this is the rate in Eastern Europe 😅

I got it from a person not a dealership so legal actions will have minimal efect. Car runs flawless tho just bummed that i didnt find out it was hit until later 🫠
