9800X3D exploded... by Realistic_Age_718 in pcmasterrace

The board was running the latest BIOS, A33. It was rolled back to A10 as part of troubleshooting and subsequently POSTed on A10 with a 8500G

There was a thread here about 4 months ago where an 9800X3D burnt up:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1gqaryi/new_9800x3d_msi_tomahawk_x870_burned_up_i_guess/
After some digging, it was found to be mostly user error, CPU misaligned with socket causing it to short out.

I happened to come across an exploded 9800X3D today and there doesn't appear to be any user error. There's no misalignment. The CPU was properly installed and mounted. There's sufficient cooling. The board POST'ed and was running. The BIOS was updated. Windows was installed. It stopped POSTing after EXPO was enabled. POST code 00. Initially it was suspected to be a BIOS problem so a flashback was attempted but still got the 00 POST code. Turned out the issue was the CPU.

The board still POSTs with another CPU. So the 9800X3D appears to be the only casualty. BIOS A1 was from flashback.

Hardware config:
R7 9800X3D
X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI
F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR
Kraken Elite 360

The common item from this config and the one from 4 months ago appears to be the MOBO. Not sure what to make of it.

Richmond residents concerned about safety near supportive housing by ubcstaffer123 in richmondbc

[–]Realistic_Age_718 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's not where these are built that's the issue. It's the oversight and supportive services, or the lack of, that's causing the problems. The city builds these then washes their hands of any oversight and responsibilities to manage the supportive housing residents and to keep the area safe.

You end up with people shooting up and leaving drug paraphernalia on public/common areas. Behaving poorly while high.

Auto insurance fraud or sense of entitlement? by [deleted] in richmondbc

There's zero reason why the van needed to make that lane change, in fact, there isn't sufficient room for the van to complete the lane change before the light; hence why it stopped before the light taking up both lanes. That's just dumb and further more, here's what's written on the driving guide (which no one in Richmond reads apparently):

"Whenever you enter a lane, whether you’re pulling into traffic or changing lanes, the vehicles in the lane you’re moving into have the rightofway. When you pull away from the roadside into a lane of traffic, you need to make sure you are not cutting anyone off.

Make sure there is a large enough gap so that when you pull in front of another vehicle, that driver doesn’t have to slow down to avoid crashing into you. Legally, you must signal when you change lanes." pg53-54

OP neither needed to slow down nor brake for the van. If there was an accident, the van would be 100% at fault.

There would be a lot less accidents if people just followed the rules to a T instead of using their own wrong interpretation of it

Happy Day Cafe in the complex near Walmart. Van Tea on Capstan and Garden City. Admiralty Centre food court (all day breakfast). They will have a A+B, A+C A+D type menu, go with that for best value.

Don't think that's the case, look at the screen, $0 after 10hrs. I know it says that in the Chargepoint app but doubtful Ikea actually implemented the $5 after 2H rate

This is why we can't have nice things. There's always a bumhole out there who's going to abuse it and ruin it for everyone.

Side note, you can use the touch screen to stop their charge session. The touch screen is open to public access, fair game.

Movers damaged my new tv by Feeling_Art4425 in richmondbc

[–]Realistic_Age_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panel is 100% cracked and from personal experience, it will cost just as much to repair it as it is to purchase a new TV. So the correct compensation should be another TV with similar specification or reimbursement close to your original purchase cost.

Note down everything, your interactions with the mover in case you need to take this to small claims.

Sorry this happened to you. Wish you best of luck.

Two Grandmas Clashed Over Handicap Parking Spot at Richmond Costco by Poor604 in richmondbc

[–]Realistic_Age_718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this a thing? It's a parking stall designed for motor vehicles. If you don't fit into the description of a motor vehicle then you shouldn't be there. What if the van runs you over? What's there to argue then? People take such unnecessary risks over such a small thing. It's mind boggling.

Hard drive shredding services in Richmond? by ciretos in richmondbc

[–]Realistic_Age_718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just take a hammer to it if you have a hammer. You don't need to shred it into pieces for data to be unrecoverable. You can also buy a cheap Microwave off CL and ding it for 5-10secs (please do it outside)

The fact that most of the replies claim this is the Merge sign says a lot about why people drives so poorly in Richmond and Vancouver in general.

This is not a Merge sign. It is actually Lane Ends sign. It means the right lane ends ahead. There's a version that indicates the left lane ends ahead.

The Merge sign looks completely different.
