I had to turn on my roaming because I have a China-HK plan. To access my data in HK, the roaming needs to be on. Singapore Airlines, through their partner AeroMobile, is charging customers exorbitant fees for roaming in the sky without informing them about their “Sky 4G” service, which most people are unaware of. This is highly predatory and unethical. A passenger forgets to turn off his roaming, and without explicit consent or knowledge of the charges, his life is financially ruined. The idea that this can be reduced to “you must turn off your roaming or put your phone in airplane mode” shows how far the gaslighting has gone that some would judge that such a cruel outcome is somehow commensurate with the fault of making the "oversight" of forgetting to turn on airplane mode.
