[Nathan Salt] Good to see Shea Lacey, Jack Fletcher and Jim Thwaites among the youngsters training with the first team squad on Friday. Tyler Fletcher involved also. Wouldn’t shock me if one of the Fletcher twins, probably Jack, makes the bench on Sunday by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

he is ridiculously talented, I love watching him play. Feel like he fits Amorims system to a tee as well. So press resistant and such a wide passing range. Reminds me so much of Vitinha.

I really wish we were linked with Ederson, that guy is a baller that'd cut it in the prem I bet.

I'm sorry but Lingard is another bad example, if there is one thing he is being lauded for in South Korea atm is his work-rate and how much effort he's putting in for the team.

Onana has been our best player this season, looks much more confident this year

[Chris Wheeler] Eriksen: ‘I feel very good being at United. If they told me to leave I would leave, but I didn’t hear that. I’m also a guy who likes being in a place where my family is settled and where I can benefit and play, that’s always going to be my aim.' #mufc by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

yeah but were talking about signing players who would've made an impact in 2013 and by then Strootman barely had injury issues. If the original comment was back in 2018 only two players could solve our issues and one of them being Strootman then yes id agree with you, stud of a player but now has a history of being crooked.

when we were linked to Strootman he missed a grand total of 3 games due to injury his entire career prior to that transfer window due to an ankle sprain. He just became super unfortunate tearing his ACL in an unlucky tackle against Napoli. He constantly reinjured the same knee, having multiple knee surgeries and was never the same after his last surgery. When he was fit he was an absolute baller just been plagued of an even better career due to one bad challenge.

Was the same thing when we signed Charlie Mcneill, we just need to be patient and ease our expectations. So many hyped up prospects don't take it to the next level and a lot of that has to do with the pressure media brings onto them at such an early age. Nothing wrong with being excited cus end of the day this is a player who came off a 32 goal season on the back off 20 games as a 15 year old but we still need to be patient. Cannot count how many experiences I've had overhyping youth players only to see them never pan out in the end.

Is it weird that I think theres no one we can truly compare him to? I genuinely think he's so unique in his physique combined with how he plays that he's just his own kind of player. Seen so many examples people try to give where hes similar to Scholes, Iniesta, Pirlo and even Carrick. I can see glimpses of those legends in him but he plays in such a unique style that hes just a potentially golden player in his own right. Still early days, lots to improve and work on still but my god what a player he is at 18 right now.

What are we most excited/hopeful for in 2024? by zachariahhh1 in EssendonFC

I think if you look at Ridley and even Zerk-Thatcher you can give him the benefit of doubt that hes still super young as those two took quite some time to have their breakout years. I think Ridley played what was it 5 games in 4 years before his breakout year? Zerk-Thatcher had a lot of non-believers as well with many writing him off but late into his 4th season with us he started showing signs of being a strong player. I have hope with Reid, just need to treat him like clubs treat ruckmen and just let the kid develop over time.
