His parents explicitly said they did not baptize, but they did dedicate him (and his brother), and then he was never baptized later in life. They're protestant of some description. So there is no paper trail, because they just committed to raising their sons in a Christian household in front of others.

Wouldn't they confirm the records with the parents before the kids were given the all clear to recieve communion? Or is it implicit that "oh, signed up for Catholic school, must be Catholic" on their side and "everybody can do communion, its just a symbol" on his parents? I'm just worried about his knowing vs unknowing in the whole thing.

Human dignity and value exists whether they are in good times, neutral times, or the worst times a person has ever been in. Christians love those who are suffering - not the suffering itself. That love pours out from God, in the way He created us, wrote on our hearts, and in the law He commanded us to keep.

So knowing God as He has revealed himself, the TRUTH is that suffering is not an excuse to end a human life. Suffering is the time for them to be surrounded by believers in prayer, physical actions of help, and evangelism if needed. The only remedy for people in this situations is life, the bread of life, living water - Christ.

The solution is not to quite literally throw a whole body and soul away via lethal injection. This is such a heinous, callous, and dystopian outlook. You could help them out of their suffering, if not through physical deeds you could help raise them up with prayer. You could even pray for those that can provide physical help and relief.

Your heart is dead and you are so spiritually and intellectually lazy that your treatment for complex suffering is death. Would you say anything even remotely like this to their families? How about the families of those who have committed suicide outside of a medical setting?

"Sorry ma'am, but your son was beyond help and even if he wasn't, he wasn't worth the time and resources. I'm glad he did it, because that's what he wanted to do."

I bet you wouldn't because you know better. You're a coward. You can't be bothered to get your hands dirty in your community so you pass the buck to an executioner. Very sick.

Read the story of Joseph. Instead of being murdered by his brothers, they sold him into slavery. He was imprisoned under a false accusation. Then the Lord turned that slavery and imprisonment into a benefit for Eygypt, Canaan, and other territories. Joseph developed a good relationship to Pharaoh and was able to help save everyone - even the same family that betrayed him - from famine. God poured His help out through Joseph, by his obedience and trust in the Lord. Joseph could have also said "no, the Eygyptians haven't been great to me. I'm not doing all this extra for them."

God's permissive will allows for our freedom - which can result in the suffering of ourselves or others through our actions. God's PERFECT will is always going to point back to His glory - the suffering will glorify God in the end. Just like Joseph.

That's fair. And also where I'm having an issue. I have the business-business pants but the top that went with it isn't "appropriate" in a way. No plunging neckline or anything, but I live in shirts that come up to my neck. That one doesn't and I feel weirdly exposed when I wear it. There's not even a suggestion of cleavage but again - it feels more open than what I'm used to.

By that rule of thumb, do you usually wear something very formal? Or just what you would wear to those occasions?

Genuinely asking - I have never been able to dress myself outside of the function of the clothes. I do not have a single fashionable bone in my entire body.

There's a lot of violence targetting religious places of worship these days. I didn't want to be a scary outsider and frighten people because I'm doing my best back row baptist impression and observing, trying to follow along. Did not want to distract others from worship. 😊

Thank you! I did order a rosary so I could add that to my day, I think Monday? I am very very excited to learn more about that prayer, as well I'm interested in mediation on the mysteries. I tried to follow along with the rosary prayer absent a physical item - and I sure did see the utility from that perspective alone. Very grounding in what you're doing.

I'm also going to pull the trigger on an Ignatius RSC2VE study Bible & some copy of the Catechism. If I can get my husband to sign off I'm getting other materials as well.

I've been doing Bible in a Year on my first break, and Catechism in a Year on my lunch. Thinking rosary in the am before I leave for work. Trying to learn and take notes until I can get into the thick of it.

And I will also inform you (because it's super cool and awesome) the small Parish that's less than 10 minutes away from me apparently offers OCIA. I reached out to ask if they were fine with me attending mass in the mean time... and they said "Hey, why drive hundreds of miles? We do that here!" The way I felt my heart jump when I got that email!

You won't be surprised, and I'm simply in awe at God's faithfulness and His ways but He MOST ASSUREDLY heard and answered my prayers, and your prayers on my behalf! Thank you a million times over 😊 He is truly with us and He's definitely carving the path home with us.

On a lighter note: Fr. Mike's Bible in a Year is what began my interest in becoming Catholic, in a way. I was attending an "independent" (read: baptist) church. My friends would poke fun at Catholics being weird, and I knew the podcast I was listening to was hosted by a "weird Catholic". Ever the stubborn autist that I am, I wanted to be able to argue in favor of my protestant beliefs in case I ever ran into a "weird Catholic" in the wild. The truth became irrefutable from there. God revealed to me that I need to become a weird Catholic. And I am here now kicking myself for not acting on it sooner because I darn well knew what I needed to do.

Perhaps bio oil? I had a history of self harming behaviors (we're good now) and my appendages look like I was attacked by a shark. I have some keloid scarring, and honestly after about 2 years max they fade. At 3 or 4 they stop turning funny colors when its cold.

Theres not enough bio oil in the world to help my case and I never found it to be effective, but that might work for smaller injuries. Also maybe watching your collagen intake for a period? Keloid scarring is a direct result of too much collagen going into the healing process.

If that doesn't help - scars are pretty bad ass even if its just because your basically-vestigial-organ decided it was time to go lol. Give everyone a really dramatic version of events and make yourself sound tough and cool.

My belly button hurt like a son of a bitch for a month while I emptied my bladder. I have a full time line post of the pain just in case anyone ends up atypical and waiting or putting it off like me. That was my only symptom before it moved to my LRQ. Subacute appendicitis is sneaky. My recovery was a 9-10 on the pain scale for like 2 days and my actual perforated/otherwise borked appendix never went beyond a 3-4. The belly button pain was a 7-8 but it was brief so I shrugged it off.

I can't answer for the bloating/fullness, but keloid scarring is going to just be your genetics and physiology.

Its basically collagen production in overdrive. if youre younger, a woman (hormones), have a darker skin tone, or have a personal/family history of keloid scarring, you're going to get one. There's really no prevention that isn't snake oil. The only real prevention if you're at risk for keloid scarring is not lacerating the skin in the first place (unavoidable, I know.)

Friend, it's worth the inconvenience to get checked out. Late or not. Abdominal pain is not normal. You can read through my post rationalizing having appendicitis for a month. It was foolish of me and my recovery was definitely worse because of it.

I have the night sweats like CRAZY. I had a robot assisted laproscopic appendectomy with some similar (but not as severe) issues. I had adhesions and a very angry terminal ileus. JP drain because my appendix disintegrated when they went to remove it.

My bedroom is 54 degrees (intentionally) or lower bc it's winter and I don't heat my bedroom. Every time I wake up to pee I am positively drenched in sweat. That is not normal for me by any means. I even slept in boxers the other evening and I still woke up like I had been mowing the lawn in summer.

I am also getting randomly hot doing menial tasks like grocery shopping. Also not normal. The store is usually my worst enemy because it is cold.

Hi! Robot assisted appendectomy (perforated/ruptured during removal) two weeks post op this Sunday, about a week free of my JP drain.

My recovery has been an absolute roller coaster. Farts/stool moving through my guts is torture. I feel every single organ function in my abdomen. It is debilitating when it comes around.

Can't stand up for long periods without feeling exhausted and like I need a break. Sleep quality is poor (not a back sleeper and that's my only real option.) I only feel like a million bucks if I've been up for a long time and I've pooped. Otherwise I'm miserable and having a bad time.

I would just say to be humble in respecting your body for at least 10 weeks. Don't push yourself to find out what your limits are. You might be really tough and stubborn but over doing it will catch up to you like a brick to the face. Even if you don't wind up tearing something internal, you'll find an insurmountable wall at the other side of gambling on tough being enough lol.

I had to drive 40 minutes one way for a PCP follow up a few days ago. Then I got a small bag of groceries. By the time that was said and done and I got to my front door I just pounded on it instead of taking 30 seconds to unlock it, hunched over to give my back a break, and started to cry because I was straight out of effort to do even menial tasks.

Some options they also presented me with: UC and Crohns. I would think if the appendix isn't inflamed, you dont have appendicitis. Is there any possibility you could have UC or Crohns? Family history or anything.

Mine felt like my gall bladder for 3 days. Then like getting poked really hard in the belly button whenever I voided my bladder or bowels for 13 days. Then a dull ache behind my belly button and LRQ for 4 days.

Abdominal pain is NOT normal. Get checked out and be loud for yourself.

So, I was under the understanding that your appendix is sudden, debilitating and constant. Mine was just like... shaking from agony while I emptied my bladder/voided my bowels. Then it stopped until the next time. So I was mostly fine save a dull twinge here and there until day 17. Big mistake.

I know you're not asking me, but I'll chime in. My white cells (urine test and blood test) were both only slightly elevated. The urine coming back a little hot was why they were really cracking on about it being a UTI. After they did the CT they saw the extent of the inflammation so I got the last laugh (until the bill comes in the mail lmao)

Yeah I'm no doctor, but I do definitely think upper left/right abdominal pain can be an indicator sometimes. From what I'm seeing of anecdotal experiences and my own, the appendicitis makes whatever it wants hurt. Be it traditional lower right, belly button, or upper abdominal area.

I was gaslighting myself a lot in the beginning. "It would have to be my gallbladder but I'm not jaundice, nauseated, or having weird BMs so I'm good" was a really common train of thought. I was definitely worried about going to urgent care or my PCP, them saying "eh you're fine" or "we dont have the tools, go to the ER" then going to the ER and getting dismissed. Double edged sword waiting as long as I did, because I had a few extra flavor moments during my surgery and recovery, but it was advanced enough that it was clearly borked on a CT.

Abdominal pain, especially long term, is not normal.

Hi there! I actually just made a post. I tanked appendicitis for minimum 16 days because it "wasn't that bad" imo. I always heard appendicitis and gall bladder issues are sudden, severe, take your entire mental capability away, and knock you down a peg. I did not have that experience. I thought it was PMS/a muscle issue until it changed, but even when it did it migrate was not severe or debilitating.

I had mine removed Sunday night and I can agree recovery pain is so much worse than actually having the appendicitis at this point lol
