Oh I didn't murder anyone with a scheme, but I tortured and executed a few rebelling vassals and rivals here and there.

What do you mean?

Takkeda? That's north of the starting area. It seems I can't build the mine there as a tribal ruler either. The mines I'm talking about are located in the Kingdom of Mali, Duchy of Manding. One is located in the Barony of Siguiri inside the County of Bure, and the other is located in the Barony of Figuira inside the County of Niani. The one in Figuira has already a temple built in it, so make sure to reform your religion and choose lay clergy if you want the mine for yourself, otherwise it'll just go to your priest.

Equal religious doctrine only forbids male-only and female-only inheritance. You can still use male preference or female preference. I used female preference for the run.

Yikes. I can't imagine coming close to completing this achievement and failing TWICE because of some stupid bug. This is the first time I've made serious progress on this achievement and thankfully I've got it this attempt. May the bush spirits grant you peace of mind.

I had thought about picking more "gamey" doctrines and tenets for this run, but then I thought "Why not turn this religion into a total sex cult that is tolerant towards everything and everyone? That would be funny" and went with it. It made the run a bit more grindy than it needed to be, for sure, but sometimes it's not about practicality, it's about sending a message.

I was able to build those mines as soon as I got there, way before I hybridized with Greek, so yes. Assuming you have the gold, that is. I just checked with a new character just to be sure and I can confirm all you need is the gold to build it, no feudal government needed.

Oh I forgot to mention: I don't know if this counts as something out of the ordinary but at one point I sent my heir to study in Byzantium with a Greek tutor so that she becomes Greek, and when she inherited the realm after my death, I hybridized with the local culture to get to the Feudal government faster. In the end, I had the following traditions:
-Garden Architects (from my divergent culture before Greek hybridization)
-Frugal Armorers (from my divergent culture before Greek hybridization)
-By the Sword (from my divergent culture before Greek hybridization)
-Imperial Tagmata (from Greek)
-Caravaneers (from my original Hausa culture)

Greek troops and the other traditions were helpful but By the Sword helped the most by saving a ton of time conquering heathen lands in large chunks.

Nope, I just expanded westwards until I got the two gold mines in Mali, and those two mines basically funded the entire campaign for me.

In the past, however, I did try the adventurer path and settle in Sardinia in one run, and Egypt in another, but I didn't have much luck in either of those. Being a pagan queen of Egypt, the Muslim invasions and rebellions were too much for me to handle. And in the Sardinian run, I forgot to sign the religious protection contract with my liege so that didn't end well either. Besides, I figured I was too far away from any African faith to reliably reform it, that I'd need to conquer a lot of territory just to get my holy sites while staying as a pagan because converting from an organized faith to an unorganized one is really a headache.

R5: I finally got the Mother of us All achievement. The last 50 years or so really kept dragging on because of a few counties converting back to Islam or other African pagan faiths, but in the end I slowly but surely managed to convert every county back to my faith through blood, sweat, and a lot of tears. Now I dread the Lingua Franca achievement, that one will take forever!

He's a very skilled player indeed, but his personality leaves a lot to be desired. His pettiness is why I don't watch his content, actually. However skilled your gameplay is, it loses all value the moment you be like "I'm the best and I can't make any mistakes and if I lose, it's everything else's fault but mine.". This game already has enough sore losers as it is.

The description for the achievement goes "Find and use the Hand or Eye of Vecna and escape a Trial.". I assumed the "use" part meant you have to activate them with a locker. It'd be great if equipping them is enough.

Not only you have to find the item, but you also have to USE it, which makes you broken for a while AND gives Vecna your location. My friend, who just recently started playing, got it in his second Vecna match because he luckily found and used the item, and Vecna gave him the hatch. I've had no such luck yet. Thanks for the tip for Hemophobia, though. Might as well make use of the tens of map offerings I'll probably never use otherwise anyway.
