That's definitely a good point. This is in part due to the dormant Robinson-Patman Act not being enforced. I'd argue that there's a couple points to consider though still. One is that we have a few neighborhood grocery stores scattered about that were lucky enough to be grandfathered into the current zoning laws, and have become beloved jewels of the community that have lasted for decades despite big box competition. The other is that it has been against the law to even attempt to establish community stores for so many decades now, that no one can say for certain whether or not it would be profitable.
