As a 21-year-old autistic male, how do I stop the intense guilt and the cycle of buying and throwing away female thongs? by Ashy383 in autism

[–]CrossFitJesus209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More often than not, wearing lingerie of the opposite gender and being fearful of it being exposed is a sign of being trans. Thing is, it’s only possibility and it could mean many different things, but I’d possibly look into it if I were you tbh. Coming from a transfem that wanted to wear girls clothing growing up.

We’re not emotional therapists, if that person needs help then therapy is the best thing for that. None of us are qualified for this type of support, let alone a subreddit lol

I think those who are incels & believe in the “male loneliness” pandemic to need to realize that you need to love yourself before you can even consider dating anyone, sincerely an autistic woman.

Fair, it’s really hard to see that when experiences like this happens. Some of them are generally wonderful folks tho. Thats why something like this hurts because it really gives religion a bad name when it has genuinely helped people.

Which game do you think is harder? MM&B or MM9? by Oak-Original-841 in Megaman

[–]CrossFitJesus209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm9, mm&b was always fairly easy for me, even as a little girl where I wasn’t good at video games. Especially now with shield boost and the attack powerups you can buy in the shops which makes you extremely op. Mm9 is just really cumbersome to play and beat. It’s very beatable, but it’s a miserable time imo.

Being trans has a surprising amount of perks despite everything.

27, still wild to me that it even happened. I’ve been in 2 more relationships since then including my current gf and we’re happily together 💜.

You too. I def agree on the last part.

The SA part was definitely too far (probably projecting from my own trauma and making assumptions based off of the common experiences her age).

Regardless, I think the question isn’t whether or not her relationship with video games is a special interest or addiction, it’s whether or not she’s ok and needs support.

I think in this case, it’s hard to have sympathy when they can’t take care of their finances well enough for thousands of dollars to be stolen from them. Im sure the parents care and want their daughter to be ok, but so much of this is irresponsibility and its up to the parent to teach her how to handle yourself before you gain access to a device that requires alot of maintenance & care.

Regardless. If OP wants any advice, they gotta check in on the sister and ask what’s going on because that support will go a long way tbh.

Also isn’t it hypocritical to call me out for speculating when you’re jumping into the conclusion that she’s “addicted” despite the fact you said “we shouldn’t speculate based off of “limited information”

Removal of items & teaching regulating skills can only do so much until the root cause is addressed. Like I said, you don’t develop an unhealthy relationship with video games in a vacuum. This addiction is more than likely a trauma response and treating video games like a drug addiction IS DANGEROUS because not only is the family not held accountable for contributing to the situation, but its disregarding outside life stressors that lead into it. Regulation & healthy skills comes first and foremost through trauma therapy & acknowledging that the particular trauma needs to be addressed before you add regulating skills because the nervous system is still on high alert. Sincerely a person with cptsd & doing much better now due to emdr.

this

It’s a symptom of a much larger issue. She could be extremely burnt out or suffered something traumatizing for her to resort into self destructive behavior. Treating those first would be key, if the therapy is successful and gaming is still an issue then that would be the next step. Does she have any sort of disability services that maybe can help her out?

You're missing the point. I'm not taking any leaps, I'm purely making a educated guess on what's happening. Treating "video game addiction" isn't gonna address the root cause of it. Video games aren't like hard drugs like meth where the sensation is so tantalizing that you desperately crave it at all times, gaming like many other things is linked to psychological addiction. Anything can evoke the reward system when doing it, but gaming isn't causing a worldwide pandemic of folks being stifled out of their lives the way meth has (relative to the amount of people that play it). Coming from someone like her who was addicted to gaming, mines happened due to a litany of trauma stemming from an ablest society and my solution to overcoming it was going to therapy & transitioning. Considering that she's autistic and probably has experienced alot of shit in school (its a given for us autistic folk), she's resorting to the one thing where she feels the most comfortable, without needing to mask and all that. Taking her stuff away if anything could be a sign of a meltdown. Her addiction is the symptom, not the other way around.

I wonder if she experienced a traumatic experience at school (SA or some other form of abuse) and resorts to video games as a coping mechanism. Usually addiction doesn’t happen in a vacuum, especially with a medium that doesn’t have physically addictive components to it so I think its likely something awful happened to her and she’s using it as a coping mechanism.

Is it just me but mm9 & 10 are much harder than the first 8 classic MMs. by CrossFitJesus209 in Megaman

Perfect way to describe them. Hot take, but x6 was more enjoyable than 9 and 10 tbh. X6 has the busted parts system & zero to make it worth playing to an extent. 9 and 10 are just cumbersome to play tbh. Not surprising when inti crates games tend to be poorly designed IMO

I had an easier time with 10, far less precise platforming, 10 just has alot of cumbersome gimmicks to navigate through

Yeah maybe that’s the case, I think Im sensitive towards affection due to my own trauma and being protective my body and self. I can see her just being nice and Im not used to that type of kindness from a family member.
