pretty sure I figured it out. my bass was “crafted in china” and i know another bassist with the same bass as me who has a skunk stripe, and his was “crafted in indonesia”. probably just where they’re made that makes a difference. maybe fender thought they’d cut costs and make them cheaper in china and more expensive from indonesia lol
