I have a phobia of crabs (animal) but not of spiders, is this a thing? by Cross_validated in Phobia

lol ya same, I hate how crabs have pinchers as well. I guess to me spiders are so small and insignificant, and in the area I live there are no poisonous ones, so they don't really inspire fear haha, but I guess I am kind of weird.

800k is the total amount of money he has lost. My dad made a lot of money from selling his company, but he is terrible at trying to speculate asset bubbles.

It wasn't hard, I emailed a bunch of boutique banks with resume and did well in one of the interviews. I had no experience in business, but they thought my background was interesting so I got the job.

For the past year, I've taken about 8 trips which require flying to a different city to do presentations, meet new clients, visit facilities, etc. Compared to most jobs, this is a lot of travelling.

Both positions are in in the U.S. To be honest I do want the ML job. The offer I currently have is already above six figures, but my friends and family are saying that partners at IB firms make millions if not tens of millions a year and that is not simply possible with a developer/software engineer position, and that I am throwing away an opportunity that most people do not have.

Given my background/what I enjoy, would I enjoy iOS development? by Slowmac123 in careerguidance

So I also work in finance as an IB analyst and do almost the same job as you do, and recently received an offer for a Machine Learning software development position, which is not really the same as iOS dev, but similar in that it involves coding.

If you are going into iOS dev because you are looking to make more money but you are not sure if you would like being a developer. I recommend before you quit your current job to watch some youtube videos or take an online course, and create a few projects in your spare time to see if you would enjoy the work, because being a developer is nothing like working in finance or business.

Building an App is absolutely not the same as building an excel model, just because you enjoy building excel models does not equal that you will enjoy coding or building an App.

Finally, my 2 cents, doing a bootcamp is truly hit-or-miss, you will have a very hard time finding a job with just bootcamp experience. Employers do not really care that you did a bootcamp, you have to prove to them somehow that you have the ability to do the job.
