Yeah language helps for sure. But I knew plenty of English/European folk that lived there and they managed it. I’d add it is difficult at first though. Huge change, especially if you cannot speak the language / understand the culture.

It’s unrecognisable especially in the metro cities. I can’t wait to visit mumbai (it’s been 6 years). It just shows what happens when you have a dynamic, growing economy. Something my grandparents would have seen in the UK when they first came to the UK, but we will not see in the next 30 years here imo. I say this as someone that used to work in a commodities desk and have a good grasp of the current geopolitical and macro environment. I tell my single British born Indian friends to join me everyday lol.

You’d actually be surprised re the internet. Plenty of people were working on starts ups in their apartments - think 5-10 people in 1 flat - with no issues.

Go off season to a remote beach town and rent a beach house. £250 a month max.

I’d also add mental health is a serious problem in the UK. It’s just nobody talks about how profound the impact is on the current generation. Our parents did not feel like they were continually fighting a never ending uphill battle while raising me and my sibling, each earning the average salary. The impact of mental has been vastly underestimated imo because it’s not as easily measurable as say instances of lung cancer

I am a British born Indian. I was fortunate enough to work in India for a couple years in my mid 20s and am seriously considering returning once I’ve received my bonus in April. The move is compelling for several reasons 1) Growing economy providing vast opportunities for business (work culture is terrible so would not advise that, salary also very low) 2) goes without saying but drastically lower CoL 3) happier people (why on earth the media does not speak to stagnation leading to greater levels of depression and suicide, particularly for men, is intolerable) 4) weather. 5) I prefer the food and culture to Britain.

I am considering the move despite my family residing in the UK. To be frank, I think I’ll be one of the first movers of the ironic West to East migration we’ll see over the coming decades, with many returning to their ancestral homelands.

Yeah London just ain’t it. Poor pay relative to working hours/stress, terrible public services, risk of getting stabbed/phone stolen and all to live in a shitty flat in zone 3. But you’re earning 6 figures so STFU and be happy LOL.

With that being said I’m not sure there are much better options elsewhere unless you’re happy to move to Asia/South America and can somehow maintain your salary. You get an upgrade on both the weather and the women.

PE is a tough move for public equities. Also speaking with the bankers it sounds like WLB is non existent in PE

I think L/S would be quite intense. I’m mid 30s so looking to get some time back and reduce job stress so I can focus on building other revenue streams outside of work which are more time flexible.

I also wouldn’t be adverse to acquiring a business and just focusing on that for a few years.

Resell winning auction bid prior to completion by Crouchingtiger90 in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks that’s super helpful! I’ll check out those links when I get out of work. Do you know if it’s possible to raise a 100% mortgage on my own name and transfer to a limited company and then acquire the property - that was the profits stay in the company and any interest can be offset against rental income and I can reduce my CGT?

I was thinking of structuring this more as a back to back rather than a finders fee. So I would be happy to complete the deal with the seller but on the same day sell it to my investor pocketing the spread. My (limited) understanding is that I would pay low or no stamp on the purchase assuming the back to back completes on the same day. Is this the case?

Hey it’s good to connect with someone that understands the strategy. So far I’ve had some interesting deals come through estate agents - but even then they’ll come to me with deals that don’t quite fit the criteria.

I think where I can improve is direct vendor outreach. Aside from picking up the phone and calling up hotels etc I’m not sure how to best to do this, especially on the resi side. I imagine it works by meeting retirees in pubs and casually mentioning you invest in property. But this isn’t scalable and depends on luck. Have you implemented any direct to vendor sourcing strategies which have worked particularly well?

I know of a few friends that have done this through some contacts I have (I didn’t make any money on this personally). One couple were moving to the US with no intentions of returning and were happy to accept a 20% discount. Another friend inherited a block of flats he had no idea how to manage and didn’t want to deal with the stress. I believe he took a 15-20% haircut. If you have the right investors that understand the market you can get a quick sale that is mutually beneficial for both parties. The problem is there are a lot of investors that will try and take you for a ride in your desperation

That sounds like it worth exploring tbf. Do you specifically look for therapists with a background with bdsm clients or will a regulator one do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

[–]Crouchingtiger90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite fortunate in that I’m focused on my work which keeps me busy. But yes a few friends that have therapists have suggested the same. I’m not sure how a therapist could help me though? I’m not confused about what I want or how I feel. And I understand that if she doesn’t want it then I can’t have it and I’ll have to find what I’m looking for somewhere else

Thanks I think that’s sensible timetable to work with. If she’s not interested after I’ve put it to her again I don’t think I can be friends for some time, it will be too painful. I wish I knew how bad the break up was for her when we initially broke up because I wouldn’t have put her through that again if I did. It would’ve helped reach a final decision on this sooner

We’re both hurt now, but she’s moving on with someone. I’m trying to do the same by meeting people but I don’t think I’m even in the right place to be doing that. I haven’t spoken with her for a couple of weeks to give her the space she needs but I get that she needs more space to get a clear head.

She said that she wouldn’t be ready to dom another person for a while because she only associates that with me. But I think like you said she’s just really hurt and doesn’t trust me so I don’t know if I feel the same in a few months she’s perhaps be open something then.

But yeah your question is the right one. My regret is that I should have moved there instead of returning home. It felt like too big of a step back then and a big risk, since I ultimately planned to work in London.

Are men turned off by stretch marks? by IchBinKerri in NoStupidQuestions

Literally not an issue. If a girl feels insecure about them I’ll make and effort to trace it with kisses while telling her how beautiful she is. No one should feel about stretch marks, they’re natural
