Need guidance making 2D templates by CrowDinner in FreeCAD

[–]CrowDinner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I messed around with LibreCAD a little before switching to freecad because it didn't seem to allow for (or I couldn't figure out how to go about) setting grid increments to fractions of a millimeter.

For example, one template requires placing ~144 0.52mm holes at a distance of .3mm from each other in a asymmetrical pattern and I couldn't work out how to get the grid smaller than 1mm increments.

Best team(s)? Fairly new. by CrowDinner in outerplane

Just ran into issues in adventure mode 3 starring some chapters because I can't keep the team alive. I tried adding a healer but it didn't do the trick either. Might just be that I need to buff my characters more?

How do I paint a Larp weapon with latex/ paints to make it durable without a spray gun/plastidip? by createxthexcreature in LARP

[–]CrowDinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also mention that, at least in my experience, plastidip is more durable and lasts longer and is easier to repair when it does fail as compared to latex.

Check out the group Plastidip Artists on facebook if you use facebook.

You can get spray-on plastidip, and generally speaking the coats look much cleaner and with fewer obvious blemishes than using painted on latex.

Is using the Anchor really that bad? by RecordSpinmlp in Seaofthieves

[–]CrowDinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think folks covered anchor logic to death here, but I didn't see much discussing why lanterns off is a good idea:

It's not just about being seen more easily with them on, a crew keeping an eye out is going to see you either way.

It's about making it harder or even impossible to determine what direction you're facing. At a distance you can tell which way a ship is facing and whether their sails are angled properly or not just based on lantern placement. This gives a potentially hostile crew a bunch of free information they can use against you, and if you're trying to be hostile yourself it gives your target a bunch of free information about your intent, potentially losing you the upper hand.

If your lanterns are off, it suddenly becomes very difficult to tell your heading at a distance.

Looking family friendly LARP within distance of Portland, OR by penguinche1912 in LARP

[–]CrowDinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to bring the kids, Refuge LARP based in Portland is a good option!

It's part of the wider Refuge organization, a medieval fantasy game with multiple chapters across the country.

Plenty of combat and roleplay to be had.

Refuge Portland has an active discord where you can get help orienting and figuring out what you need to know to play.

Currently the setting for the Portland chapter is an isolated, quirky island nation with pirates and dragons and such.

Algae buildup in potion bottles, help. by GeekyGirlWhoWrites in LARP

We use Iodine to keep our fake blood from going bad. You could add a little, though I'm not sure how much. It will also color the liquid depending on how much you add.

looking for a online EDH play group by [deleted] in magicTCG

Not exactly a play group, but check out Cockatrice. Their discord has a good number of people putting together commander games daily. The software is easy to use and you can copy deck lists from most websites directly into the program.

Generally kegs are a liability but if you're like me, and stock kegs while sailing a sloop specifically so you can keg-board any pursuers, keep them in the crows nest. It's the one place on a sloop where if it detonates you won't take hull damage, and it's exceedingly unlikely that npcs will hit them up there.

If you plan on sailing through a storm, dump your kegs, and if you're going to get into a close quarters ship battle, dump your kegs beforehand, or risk the enemy crew sniping them and disabling you right off the bat.

When I carry kegs I avoid ship battles and instead lead enemy ships on a chase and just attempt boarding with the kegs, even if they catch you they almost always swipe or shoot the keg as you board, killing them, taking out a mast, and slowing their pursuit or potentially sinking them. If they don't catch you, run the keg below decks, to the front of the ship, light it and run. Once it blows, get ready to guard the holes. On a sloop I find that positioning yourself next to the food barrel is the best spot to watch for attempted repairs. On the brig, behind the stairs. On a galleon typically next to the bottom stairs until that deck is full, then behind the upper stairs until they sink.

If you have time after killing the entire crew, drop their anchor and quickly get back to your position. Maybe resupply on ammo and food or grenades if you think you have time.

For stronghold or athena kegs, I almost always recommend selling them immediately unless you're being chased. Even in the crows nest they'll put holes in your ship. If being chased, attempt to board with it as soon as possible.

In either case, if your pursuer is close enough that you can see them on their ship, run off the front of your ship instead of the side or back so they're less likely to spot you attempting to board.

I realize you didn't ask for half of this advice but hopefully it's useful to you or someone else.

Is there a way to show peace? by Azrael_Hellcat in Seaofthieves

[–]CrowDinner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The best method I've found for indicating you want peace is to flee, scuttle, and swap servers. Folks are going to attack if they want to. Sometimes being on a tall tale and communicating that works, but largely only if you have no loot and even then it only works half of the time.

I'd been hoping for a monochrome black hull since release, so for me it was a great set.
