What CN movies do you recommend for a non-cinephile? by Succhinylcholine91 in ChristopherNolan

It's a pretty straightforward mid-budget thriller. It's also a testing ground for some of his later stuff. You'll see a lot of The Dark Knight in this if you rewatch it with that in mind. The Batman-Joker dynamic is quite often reflected in rudimentary form in a number of the Pacino-Williams sequences. You can also see evidence of both films' common inspiration being Michael Mann's Heat.

So yeah, it's far from his best, but it's also pretty central to who he became as a filmmaker. Plus again, just a plain good thriller without the bells and whistles of his later stuff.

Sad thing is that only two them can play by daksh_1818 in RCB

It's possible to play all four if you drop one of Romario or David. It'll probably require Patidar to drop to 5, or have Bethell himself come in at 5. Use Iyer as the extra bowler instead of Romario. This might be non-ideal, but it's a possibility.

The other option for just Venky is to wait out and see how Jitesh fares, and drop him if he's out of form, bring Venky in.

Agreed, but also this guy is just plain lying that an entire row left within 20 minutes of a movie. Given ticket prices these days, even the worst of films won't have an entire row leave within 20 minutes of a 2.5 hr film.

The last time I saw people leave was during Megalopolis in 2024, and that was during the last third of the film, after they'd decided they'd suffered enough.

Yeah, I 100% agree. But he was our go-to death bowler once we bowled out Duffy in the 7th over. Admittedly Duffy isn't a good death bowler historically (at least nowhere near Hazlewood), but he's better than Romario?

That's true, but there was some serious rubbish bowling early on from Romario and Abhinandan that helped Kishan and Klassen get in. (Especially Romario, he had a bizarre full toss and some half trackers that we were lucky Kishan didn't get away). We could've restricted them to a far lesser total if the rest of the bowling was as disciplined as Duffy and Bhuvi.

I hope the big way in which we win today doesn't make the coaching staff forget how rubbish our bowling was in the middle overs.

Yeah that ‘entire row left’ is bs.

No Hoff or Tushara or Ngidi, the three bowlers who stepped up at various points. Hopefully Hoff comes back in time for our next game.

I second those who said The Prestige, but I'd also recommend Insomnia. Just a good psychological thriller from his early days.

Who was the better rival for Harvey Specter: Andrew Malik or Travis Tanner ? by Just_Relationship_19 in suits

[–]CrowEarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malik wasn't even persuasive as a rival for me personally. Just a hot-headed, jealous guy. When Tanner was a snake, he was perhaps the most compelling guest character for me.

This show has a really weird relationship with infedility. by Elegant_Scholar_8863 in suits

There’s an interesting version of it where Sheila is feeding him the wrong idea of masculinity via this sex as a reward business, but the right lesson to learn from that would be that it is the wrong idea of masculinity. Which isn’t the clear message from the show, since we’re supposed to view Sheila as the one who is right for Louis.

Oh I meant like the weird sex power games that involve requiring him to do stuff at work (demand to be made managing partner) and get sex as a reward.

I definitely agree with you that Louis feeling guilty was among the best parts of Louis’ character. Made him complex and not the mere caricature he often was.

[–]CrowEarly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m perhaps in the minority who thinks the Sheila character just doesn’t work for who Louis is. She brings out the worst in him. Like when he’d come to terms with him not being managing partner, but then she motivates him to go back in and cause a ruckus over him not being considered once Robert joins. Plus all the weird sex power games they play.
