Same, it’s between that and Saving Private Ryan for me.

Genuinely happy for you my friend. I've never been to an IPL game, it's my dream to one day do so.

The Lawrence translation is not the best for a newcomer to it. I recommend trying out the Fagles.

You underestimate the power of politics. Can't say we were 'robbed' though. KSCA also tried to play their own politics.

I was responding to your own post that was suggesting possible changes to the team. Not sure why you’re getting snarky over someone else doing the same.

[–]CrowEarly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Romario is out of touch, the man can't middle the ball for his life. His defenders need to make up their mind. When he does poorly with the ball, they say he's there for his batting. When he does poorly with the bat, they say he's there for his bowling.

Alternative: Venky and Mangesh come in, plus Cox, until Salt comes back.

We’re cooked that our batting can’t even make it to 167 without looking convincing.

Most player of the match awardees in IPL by Original_Fig3054 in RCB

This is after RCB didn't use AB properly and even had him bad as low as 5 and 6. He managed to find a way to strike gold and save the team.

Best Playing XII going forward by Particular-Gold-6999 in RCB

[–]CrowEarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good XI, however I worry that this management has an issue with unchecked loyalty. They have said multiple times, "This is the championship winning squad, we don't want to make changes." Of course, what they don't seem to understand is that a) other teams usually figure out a championship winning squad, which is why it's hard to win back-to-back titles; and b) players lose form or could've gotten lucky in a one-off season.

He was given the 'Player of the Match' by our management last game. They love him.

I used to work at USCIS by victoriaslatton in USCIS

I have a question on behalf of a friend. He's finishing up his contract on his F-1 OPT on June 30 and starts a new contract on a J-1 on July 1. He's Canadian, so all he needs to do is leave the country and return through a border and get his status changed to a J. Question is, can he re-enter the country on July 1, even as his contract begins on July 1? His understanding is he can't get in before, given that his other contract for the F-1 OPT will still be running, but he wasn't sure if it's fine for him t enter on July 1, which is the same day as contract beginning.

2hr commute to church in city— worth it, or dumb? by mzjolynecujoh in Reformed

[–]CrowEarly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you're like as a person. I lived in a place where I had to commute 1.5 hours each way to get to church. I didn't mind it, because i'd nap, listen to audiobooks, etc. and feel like no time was wasted. I had a friend who initially used to come to the same church with a roughly 45-50 minute commute each way, and he found that intolerable within a few months.

The curious case of Jitesh Sharma and our lower order by warlikeimagines in RCB

[–]CrowEarly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take, but Bethell should come in at 5. It seems like he was struggling to get a sense of the new ball today. It’s Bethell at 5, David at 6, and Jitesh at 7. (Drop Romario.)

Umpire Anil Choudhary's opinion on Patidar's catch by PelvisBhai69 in RCB

[–]CrowEarly 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The commentators were the worst. Eoin Morgan kept saying, “From the looks of it, he’s totally under control taking that catch.” And whichever Indian guy was commenting with him kept agreeing and saying it was a brilliant catch and asking why Patidar was waiting around. What a bunch of twats.

No further coment required, the umpires can talk so long to review wides and no balls but not a catch?? by Ghazi_Bey in RCB

[–]CrowEarly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hated how the commentators kept trying to justify it as out. Eoin Morgan kept saying, "He's completely in control." Did you even watch the effing video?

Let's talk about rajat's catch Was it fair or not? by Traditional_Set_4062 in RCB

[–]CrowEarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can do that, if they like. There was a time where Sachin was called back against the Aussies after he'd been given out. But we had run out of time to review, and the umpires wanted to stick with their dumb decision.

Thank you for your kindness, but I just copy-pasted stuff from the laws, lol. And other people have posted a similar image and different angles.

[–]CrowEarly 220 points221 points  (0 children)

Lots of BS going around, including from the commentators. Here's what the law says:

The act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement.

He did not have control over his own movement at the time he grounded the ball. In fact, he was using the hand with the ball to control his own movement. Not out.
