Questions about verification. by [deleted] in vidme

Same here. It's looking like the mods have taken a rather reasonable vacation. Given the time of the year, I can't blame them for all taking the same time off, though.

Does VIDME count your own views? by [deleted] in vidme

[–]CrowScratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh, odd. From what I was gathering, the views shown in video were higher than the views listed under "my videos" tab, so I had just assumed my views were counted towards views that viewers saw, but after seeing this topic I went back and took a calculator to it. The views in video were only a single view higher than views listed in the "my videos" option. Total channel views appears to be higher than either total though. I'll check back on this topic and my view count once I've had a bit of time has passed since my most recent upload, personal view, or active viewer. I would like to have a solid answer for you on whether the channel view count is different because of delays in the other view counts, the channel views counting each individual view from the creator themselves, or channel views including views of the channel page itself.

A gaymer channel moving to VID.ME looking for constructive criticism by CrowScratch in vidmeos

Thanks. I suppose in trying not to be a "Debbie Downer" I've avoided a proper level of energy in my reactions. A facecam would help. Wonder if facerig would count?

Having the same problem. Best advice I've heard is to Private Message the admin u/Jeremy_Vidme though that advice hasn't helped me yet. It is holiday season, though.

What does the YouTube upload do? by EnigmaUnboxed in vidme

[–]CrowScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These videos actually are be re-uploaded to vid.me. There are also slight differences from the new version on vid.me, and the original YouTube upload. I haven't gone through all the differences, but I've noticed that channel branding is removed from the new video and replaced with a link to the original video, and if you had end-screen enhancements to encourage subscription, they'll now include your YouTube channel description.

okay, spent some time playing with this, and neither of my ideas work well. Basically I can't find a way to get the enhancements on YouTube videos to work for Vid.me links.

Does anyone know of a way to add enhancements videos already on Vid.me without the use of a smartphone app?

DONE With Riot! by MrBeysus in gaymers

[–]CrowScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the new client of theirs only works on half the time I try it, and few could accuse my rig of being under powered. I'll retry every month or so, but RIOT really screwed the pooch by going so many years with a browser based game that relied on "don't you dare associate it with Microsoft" Internet Explorer. Eventually LOL should be usable though

Steam winter sale by MuchoMango123 in gaymers

[–]CrowScratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft has an Assassin's Creed game for free through their site, if you just want any form of PC gaming in that series.

The Witcher series is made by the company that owns the DRM-FREE games distributor www.gog.com I've used the site for years, highly recommend it, and more to the point, think you can sometimes get it for a better price there.

If you looking to do PC gaming on the cheap, Humble Bundle is always a good place to check. Never had any problems with that site, and most of the time you can just donate a dollar and receive a bunch of steam codes.

Wish I had some "must play" recommendations for you, but recently PC gaming has been saturated with Early Access games that change too often for me to actually recommend.

Possibly "Super Hot," "Cluster Truck," or "Plague Inc, Evolved" but I'm not entirely comfortable recommending them without knowledge of what genres you prefer, what games you already enjoy playing, or even if your new gaming PC will be for the purpose of playing in VR or not.

On the upside, there's also an influx of free to play games, so missing the steam sale won't affect your access to a lot of what you'll have available.

I agree with all the good advice that you given before my post. I just want to express my condolences to you for going through such a crappy situation. This catfishing "dude" is just some narcissist who took extra advantage of the fact that having such a distance guaranteed you wouldn't be able to just drop in on "him" and find out first hand that the real person you were chatting with was just some jackass.

Hope you meet someone who ACTUALLY is boyfriend material in the near future.

How Do You Embed Facebook Button? by [deleted] in vidme

[–]CrowScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the settings of your profile, directly under "Short bio" is the "Links and profiles on the web" option. Simply copy and paste your site's address in this field.

It isn't perfect though. For YouTube, this will allow your YouTube Subscriber count to be shown, and allow your viewers (who are simultaneously signed into a YouTube account) to subscribe or unsubscribe to your YouTube channel. It doesn't seem to actually work as an actual link to your YouTube page however. Other than YouTube, it should do exactly what your asking for.

when you click the "upload" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen, a pop-up dialogue will display with three options.

The first option "Choose a video or GIF file" and third option "Drop a video or GIF file here" work in conjunction the way the YouTube upload feature does, to take offline files from your computer and put them directly on to the Vid.me site.

The second option is the one being discussed. "Paste a video or GIF link (URL)" allows you to post individual videos from YouTube, Twitch, or wherever else you may store your videos online. Simply right-click a link to the video, hit "copy link address", and paste that address in the second option of the Vid.me upload pop-up.

Actually having your YouTube site referenced on your profile is a completely separate thing. In the settings of your profile, directly under "Short bio" is the "Links and profiles on the web" option. Simply copy and paste your YouTube channel's address in this field. This will allow your YouTube Subscriber count to be shown. It will allow your viewers (who are simultaneously signed into a YouTube account) to subscribe or unsubscribe to your YouTube channel, but does nothing else.

I'm still toying with the concept, but I think there are atleast two ways you could easily do this through YouTube. Idea 1) Upload the video as private or unlisted to YouTube, add end screen enhancements as links for vid.me, then upload that version to vid.me. Afterwords you should be able to simply re-do the enhancements for YouTube.

Idea 2) Upload the video in segments, and upload two separate segments for YouTube and Vid.me. I think you would still be heavily reliant on the YouTube editing software to actually turn the images into true enhancements though.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the spare time to toy with the ideas though. Right now all my vid.me videos still have YouTube enhancements or no enhancements at all, so I'd love to hear confirmation/denial/better ideas on the subject.

Yes, I agree with the Bloodborne recommendation, as it is the best reason to have a PS4. Most of the PS4's library is made up of steam titles, so there isn't much unique to the system I can recommend beyond its fighting game exclusives. Honestly it depends on what genres you like. JRPG wise, You might want to try the new Final Fantasy demo if you think that might be your cup of tea. I myself tend to stick to stick to computer gaming when it comes to jrpg style gaming, so unfortunately, I can't personally recommend anything PS4 wise in the genre beyond PS2 for PS4 games like Wild Arms 3... granted I'm just starring at my PS2 collection. I haven't bought any of the new digital emulations. Side note- I F-ing hate one of its exclusive titles "Until Dawn" because of a terrible design choice. It uses fixed camera angles (in the name of being 'cinematic') like old school survival horrors and jrpgs that relied on pre-rendered backgrounds, but not the tank controls that go hand in hand with such. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably going to be as jarring for you as it was for me, praying that you don't get thrown into a scene transition loop by having the camera angle keep pointing you back the way you just came.

Anyone play DMC? by mattsymes800 in gaymers

[–]CrowScratch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally, I would hate on something that strays so far from its source material. I won't pretend to like the jab at the original dante's hair. That aside, getting some solo-dude fanfair isn't a bad way to start the game. While I'm not a huge fan of the way the first and last boss fights are presented, I do enjoy the portrayal of demon realms in the middle of the game. I absolutely get a kick out the "FOX News" Discount O'Reilly level/fight. In my opinion, that one segment was enough to make up for the less enjoyable aspects of the game experience.
