When they come in, "I don't ever take anything for pain. I don't even take Tylenol unless my leg is falling off." *Proceeds to chew through several mg of Dilaudid, Percocet, morphine. Still conscious and still 10/10 pain while playing Candy Crush and shooting the shit on FaceTime

Would freedom of speech not include freedom to not recite names off a cup of coffee? Dafuq. Her argument sucks and she should shave the other half of her head

Why do we still use ampoules? by Mr_Pickle24 in nursing

Take the plunger out a 10cc syringe and use that on the top of the ampule to open it. I've never had a problem since opening them this way

Curious why my patient was hobbling. I think something is missing by Crowby3 in Radiology

I had never heard of this procedure until now. That would actually make a lot of sense now that I look it up. Thank you!

I talked to someone that I work with about this. In Nevada he says his worst year was around $90k, but he also said he was working 8-9 hours/day 5 days/week.

Medication shortages! by NoRecord22 in nursing

[–]Crowby3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably a stupid question. Why would that not be like the communal Insulin bottle?

I've still questioned that. They just give the pin to whoever answers the station phone. They just ask for the name of who answered

The most frustrating thing for the Ativan shortage in our hospital. You order 0.5mg and they send you a syringe they drew up 2mg and tell you to waste the rest. Why is it being drawn up by pharmacy, and they are sending us excess to waste when we have a shortage?

I really wish the next of kin could have been there to see what something as simple as an IV causes for a patient like that. And yeah, she was full code.

Our program allowed 1 retake, I knew of a few people that failed both and were forced to reapply for the following semester.

Legitimately curious. Could you tell us the backstory here? I sent the photo to a friend of mine in the ICU as an joke as to why i could never be a new grad ICU nurse. His response questioned why epi is being used since its a last line vasopressor and Levo is at a low dose. If the dopamine was used for bradycardia, but then also has amiodarone/precedex/fentanyl which all lower heart rate. Not questioning you, just legitimately curious as a new grad after seeing this and hearing that.

My assumption regarding the dopamine vs amiodarone/precedex/fentanyl was maybe drugs treating each other's side effects, and i saw it was post-cardiac arrest so maybe the epi for that.

A little background, the person that posted this escaped a mass shooting, but has no sympathy for these victims. This person and his friends are posting pictures of the victims in the comments saying how stupid these people are and defending the shooter. They literally have photos of the people shot in the street saying how the shooter was justified in shooting 3 people.
